Police investigating the murder of a teenage girl have arrested a 19-year-old man in connection with her death.

The 15-year-old victim, named locally as Megan-Leigh Peat, died from "serious injuries" at a property in Befordshire in the early hours of Saturday morning.

Neighbours claim she was stabbed to death at a house party, although police have yet to confirm the cause of death. A post mortem examination was due to take place later on Sunday.

Stoke City FC Academy player Andrew Hall was arrested and is being questioned after 15-year-old Megan-Leigh Peat was found dead at a semi-detached house in Ampthill, Bedfordshire.

Bedfordshire Police refused to confirm the name of the man in custody but confirmed he was known to the victim.

However a spokesman for Stoke City FC confirmed Mr Hall was being questioned by police.

Her funeral is to take place on Tuesday, attended by her mother, father, brothers and step-father, as well as extended family and friends.

Andrew Hall, 18, a footballer with Stoke City academy, has been charged with her murder.

A provisional trial date of 30 October has been set for Mr Hall, of Robin Close in Flitwick.

Andrew Hall, 18, who attended Stoke City academy, the youth development part of Stoke City Football Club, pleaded guilty to murder on Friday at Luton crown court. Judge Richard Foster jailed him for life, with a minimum of 10 years.
