Oh darn, I hope he is OK. My 93 yr old mom has wandered off a couple of times in past year. Luckily she was found quickly and returned safe and sound.

I hope Michael is found quickly as well. I am sure he is confused by now.

Update just come in from police.

#LatestNews - Officers searching for a missing elderly man in West Dorset have very sadly found a body.

Dorset Police received a report at 3.11pm on Friday 17 March 2023 raising concern for the welfare of 95-year-old Michael Norman.

Following searches by officers, assisted by the NPAS helicopter, Dorset Search and Rescue (DorSAR) and Wessex 4x4 Rescue, the body of a man was located during the afternoon of Saturday 18 March 2023. The body has yet to be formally identified, however, it is believed to be Michael.

The death is not being treated as suspicious and HM Coroner has been notified.

Our thoughts are with the family and loved ones of Michael at this extremely difficult time.

We would like to thank everyone who assisted with the searches, as well as the public for their help in providing information.

EDIT: posted my response at the same time as the above. Very sad to hear but sadly, not unexpected. I hope his family is being well supported.

We used to live just outside of Corscombe. It’s a very rural area. There’s nothing really to ‘walk to’. Sadly, if he wasn’t found in the immediate village (which is quite small), then there is not much for miles and miles but fields.

There is also very limited to no public transport around there. I don’t know about Corscombe specifically but we had no bus service in our village. I think the closest train is in Maiden Newton several miles away and there is a fairly infrequent bus service there too. Nothing a 95 year old could easily walk to though sadly.

It’s very rural and I hope they have been searching fields and woodland and outbuildings, because that’s the only place he could be.
