The red flag is that there are no sightings more than that he slept alone. Unless he left in the dead of night, this just does not seem very likely.

  • #222
Oh of course, but that jumps out at me, whether he left of his own accord, or not.

Wakes up alone in the room, everyone still sleeping, gets dressed and goes off looking for something do..

Or something else..

Either way, nobody else in the room to know. KWIM?

could also be why he wandered if he is used to sleeping with his twin.

Yes, the superintendent is reiterating this now, she says he is capable of dressing himself. Did mikaeel decide to go on an adventure because he woke in his room alone? He is 3, but the police have said it is a possibility and as there is no evidence of any criminality a possibility they have to consider.

:fence:

I wasn't blaming or accusing. Just asking. My kids could dress themselves too, I just couldn't imagine them putting a coat and gloves on by themsleves. One smart kid. I still have to say over and over to my kids...gloves and hats ...gloves and hats.

I'm thinking that the girl twin probably stayed in the twins bedroom that night, whilst Mikaeel was elsewhere, rather than the other way round...

But it would be interesting to know.

The girl twin might have mentioned to the police that she was alone in her room in bed all night when they asked if she heard anything...

That is very true!

I just heard on the radio police urging local people to keep searching their own properties, and their trash bins.

Yet I'd have thought twins would have wanted to be together more if one was unwell.

From these plans it seems possible the twins could have slept downstairs away from mum and their siblings. Do parents among you think it's likely three year olds would be given that room, a floor away from parent?

While I wouldn't let my children sleep downstairs and me upstairs, I have found that it is not that uncommon. I'm fine with the kids upstairs and me downstairs as then someone would have to pass my bedroom to get upstairs. But I know many people who this is never a thought.

Talking about Child Alert, showing number.
Seaching specifically in the immendiate area around his home.

Additional info re description. 2 ft tall?! Wearing blue jogger bottoms and a top with dinosaur on it. Possibly beige hoohded coat with brown shoes.

Focus remains in Edinburgh.

Any new info at all?!
No evidence of any criminality, concern grows with passing of time. Please continue searching properties, check nieghbours, empty properties - anywhere that a 3 yr old would seek shelter.

Possible he could have opened the doors at the flats.

All key members of family spoken to.

No suspects - no evidence of criminality.
This is a missing person enquiry. (HE IS THREE????!!!!).

No sightings at all.

Looking at CCTV - last time he was seen was at 9pm last night.

No one else has access to the property except mother & siblings.

No properties of interests.

No formal detentions or arrests (???).

Cannot confirm who is assisting them.

Not gone missing previously.

Normally shared bedroom with his twin, but was alone last night.
Mother was last to see him.

Gah, they could be talking about a 30 year old if I didnt know better.
:(

BBM This concerns me.

Possibly, but I can tell you that my 5 & 6yo (boy & girl) share a room and my boy ALWAYS ends up in our bed in our room, leaving his sister to sleep alone, even when they sometimes share a bed together. It is possible that his sister behaves the same way and crawls in with a sibling or mom.

I think it will be more important to know if someone other than the children decided to sleep somewhere other than their typical sleeping arrangements. My son likes to sleep on the sofa, then in the middle of the night crawls into bed with us. My daughter goes to sleep in our bed. We frequently put them in their own beds at the beginning of the night and they still wind up in our bed.

I still can't imagine a child that age getting their shoes & coat together and on and out the door w/o a sound. My children aren't quiet and honestly I can't imagine them trying to sneak out at night for anything, it's cold, it's dark, and putting on shoes & a coat is kind of an ordeal at that age.

I think with a family with that many children, he would have to be independent and take care of dressing and feeding himself. So putting on coat, shoes, mittens and hat would probably come naturally to him.
With so many kids in the flat/apartment, it also does not seem likely that an unusual event would have gone unnoticed by the kids. So, from that perspective, something happening to him in the flat does not sound likely but then him getting out and there being no sightings is baffling.
Poor little chap, I hope he will be found safe and sound soon.

Well the last thing a poorly child would want to do would be to creep out of the house, opening heavy doors on the way.

I hope police manage to get hold of some more recent photos - Mikaeel's hair is said to be longer now, so that one may be old. It would help to be able to see the scar properly.

It is said the father and family are all co-operating, but I can't work out if they mean the father of all the children or what. Or if they would include a boyfriend and possible father of the new baby as family?

I can't get my head around this. I don't know if sky news are making it worse, they keep saying can a 3 year old dress himself and open a heavy door an adult might struggle to open. I don't have kids, I haven't a clue really. My in laws cat can open their front door so anything is possible I guess.. But not if it's locked. They keep mentioning the heavy front door but that is a communal door right? What about the front door to the families flat? Was it locked, could Mikaeel unlock it? Was it locked last night but unlocked this morning? There has been no mention of this.

So he's feeling unwell that night, is left alone from 9 pm to 7.15 am without being checked on even though mum knew he was completely alone in the room?!

Police stated that the photo was taken just before Christmas. It appears that the original photo may be of him and his twin, possibly before church or a Christmas production at school, as they appear to be dressed up in holiday attire. That would have been only about a month ago. I don't think his appearance has changed that much, though his hair is stated to be a bit longer now. JMOO

I thought that too, but I'm not a parent of a newborn and other children so I'll refrain from any sort of judgement for the time being.

A 3 y/o? Maybe my kids are exceptionally lazy and loud, but even my 5 1/2 y/o wants help with coat & shoes and getting food.

Is he a 'just turned three' kind of three or 'nearly four' kind of three? They really make a transition from toddler to little kid in that year.
We don't know what kind of 'unwell'. A bit of a cold? Tummy upset? I think most parents would check on their kids before they (the parents) go to bed to make sure they are covered etc. Nothing to do with well or unwell. But the mum just had a baby so maybe she was a bit overwhelmed.
But babies need to be fed several times at night so she should have been up at regular intervals. How old is the baby, does anybody know?

Iamnotagolem - it depends. My six year old always pushes the envelope and insists on being helped (or we are in serious danger of missing the school bus) while my two year old was able to dress herself (including coat, shoes mittens) at 21 months and refuses any help.
