Updated search map from media statements. I suspect you could just draw a huge circle around a mile area of Mikaeel's pinned home though, as searches have been so extensive.

I am presuming the coastal searches stopped at nightfall, but I wouldn't bet on it. I wonder if Edinburgh coastguard have a web page or twitter?

Ignore pic. It came out sideways.

Fixed I hope.

I just love this idea. A stroke of genius.

Reeling from the fact that tomorrows front pages (newspapers) barely feature Mikaeel at all. Min wage/corrie actor trial/death of trigger.

Its cold and damp outside and this precious 3 year old should be snuggled safe in his bed surrounded by his family :(
Even my husband made a point of rechecking the children before he went out to work (nightshift) he isnt usually one to get involved and sighs at me regularly.

Dismayed there is nothing new in the news. Sad and frustrated that they seem not to care that he is a BABY, he isnt missing of his own volition. He isnt playing hide & seek, or run away because he had a parental disagreement, he isnt hiding out with a nursery friend and I highly doubt he is capable of knowing to find shelter/supplies in the case of an older runaway.
I hope that LE/media know more than they are letting on, if they really are as clueless as they're putting out to us then I am evenmore terrified for this little guy.

Ummmm. I tend to think this little boy is adorable and police are trying very, very hard to keep people calm because they are a little afraid of what the reaction might be, if people think something bad has happened to him.

The media is biting its tongue hard, in my opinion. But is beginning to crack under the pressure. There are a few signs. Look carefully. In my opinion.

I agree, there's stuff that was not mentioned earlier that now is being mentioned by journalists. For e.g. At first very little detail seemed to be published about the wider family but I've seen a bit more in the last couple of hours.

Sadly I think there could be a certain amount of racial bias which means this isn't being reported. There are assumptions being made online already due to the where the boy's father is reportedly from.

The name made me think he may be Nigerian? It doesn't matter to me where family are from, it's the fact there is no family member out there for this little boy. I cannot fathom it. He's been missing 24 hours. If it's a cultural thing, there would be a local church/community leader who would step forward. I don't think anyone's been asked though. :(

Pictures of the dog being used here http://www.itv.com/news/update/2014-01-16/specialist-sniffer-dogs-being-used-in-toddler-search/

Hope he is found safe and well, but it's not looking good.

Most of the online sites i use for news have this story on main page within the top 3 stories so it's getting more coverage than some do here in the uk, I think alot of the cases like this that get the big coverage are when there are witnesses who either see the abduction (like with April Jones) or the are sightings on CCTV or by several independant witnesses when the last person is a family member it's kind of like the media take a breathe to see what happens.

Search has moved to another area near to #Mikaeel house. Road closed off and lots of police activity.

No, Mikaeel's father is not Nigerian, but his older brothers and sister have the Nigerian father. Mikaeel's father is asian.

I have to turn the computer off now, husbands orders. I've been on here for about 11 hours I think.. I will keep checking in on my phone though, sneakily. I am not going to be able to sleep any time soon.

I checked out Ferry Gait Crescent on google streetview- the neighborhood looks immaculate, nice cars, no grafitti. The buildings all look quite large; hoping they are searching every nook and cranny.

I don't think media coverage has anything to do with race in this case. And it's not as if it's not getting mentioned, it is. I think it's because it doesn't seem like a stranger abduction. The answer lies in his family IMO.
