I have driven myself crazy looking for landfill sites in Edinburgh. Google maps on ipad keeps taking me to people's private residences. Do any locals know where the landfills are?

I dont know of any landfills perse... certainly not that would be accessible to the public, but we have 'recycling centres' better known as 'the tip'.

It has been said in the media a few times that Mikaeel's maternal grandmother is a doctor. I don't find it unusual to keep a child off nursery for just over a week either, in the UK it is not compulsory for a child to attend school until the age of 5 and so it should not be frowned upon by the school, in fact I think that they would prefer that he is well before returning. It is not usual for children to be kept from school when they have a cold though and surely with grandmother being a doctor they would know the difference between a cold and something more serious.

My boys share a room but I would only separate them if maybe one was restless enough to be keeping the other awake and had school the next day. Which makes me wonder....did the twin sister attend nursery in the past week?

Wasn't that connected to the child's handprint on someone's door? Think that may have turned out to belong to a child in the house.

just my 2 cents input here. but i am so sorry this little boy "disappeared" before wednesday night. i have such a strong feeling about this one. too many gaps here and the fact that he was ill and not seen at the nursery school for so long is just to suspicious.

a little 3 year old will not just up and walk out of his home where he knows there is comfort, warmth, love etc. and i don't think someone "took" him either.

In UK the trash lorries/bin lorries usually drop the rubbish at the local council tip/recycling centre, they don't normally drop collected waste directly into landfill. Here is a list of the local council sites:

Maybe someone local can confirm if this is also the case in Edinburgh.

Found this - Edinburgh's landfill waste goes by train from Powderhall to Dunbar, via a company called Viridor.

As the little boy has apparently been ill for a while it would be interesting to know if him sleeping on his own was an I going arrangement until he was better or, if not, was there any particular reason why that night of all nights he was on his own?

I find it a sad state of affairs that nowadays when a child goes missing I always find myself looking at and doubting the parents and close relatives. I don't know why because if god forbid the tables were turned and it was me in that situation I would dread to think that some people may think I had anything to do with my childs disappearance. BUT its a sad fact that nowadays family and close family are becoming increasingly implicated in missing child cases.

Nurse, Before you shout at me, I am not "going there" just sharing my generalistic (is that a word) view which I have shared on other threads also
