Paul Hemming has been found guilty of murdering partner Natalie Hemming following a trial at Luton Crown Court.

The media don't seem to be very interested. No other tweets from court. Perhaps they'll be there for sentencing later.

Excellent news.

Agree Tortoise, the media dont seem to be giving this case much coverage. The only info I found was the same tweet that you have posted.

Very pleased with the result though and that they took very little time to reach their decision.

Just picking this up off Twitter now...poor child

The court heard the noise of the attack woke their six-year-old son who slipped downstairs. After peeking through a gap in the door, he saw his mother's body which, by then, his father had wrapped in a blanket.

Not realising she had been killed and fearing he would be told off for being up, he then crept back to his bedroom.

The jury was told when the youngster and his two sisters got up the next morning, their father claimed their mother had left the house while they were asleep. He then took them to Whipsnade Zoo for a Bank Holiday day out.

I can only think that there needs to be more awareness raised about the dangers of having that conversation about separation and divorce with jealous and possessive partners, especially those with a previous history of violence. Always have someone else with you, would be my advice. It wouldn't prevent all such murders, but it might go some way at least towards preventing spur of the moment rages.

He has got Life with a minimum of 20 years. I wish it could have been longer.

Long recap article here

Including this ;

The following evening as Hemming questioned about her Saturday night out, she eventually told him she had slept with Mr Dennis, which led to the violent attack in their lounge.

As you say Tortoise, needs to be more awareness. With his track record of violence towards her, it was not wise to tell him anything.

I'm just glad it was a pretty quick arrest and the kids weren't alone with him for too long. I can't help but think the 6 year old would have told the 10 year old what he saw.

Am thinking the 6 year old may have also told his grandmother ( Natalie's mother ) and that could be the reason for the quick arrest

Good to actually see this and see his demeanour firsthand. He's a cocky little thing isn't he

Video of interview with PH.

Interesting how he lists all the things he has not done ( allegedly ! )

In statement analysis, it's a sign of sensitivity (that this is an important point of the conversation) to keep listing things you haven't done (although in this case it was relevant to the questions he was asked).

He failed to give a reliable denial, which would have been "I didn't kill her". Instead he said "I have not killed her" before launching into a list of extra things that are superfluous to what should be a simple statement. Extra words in statement analysis indicate sensitivity and a need to persuade, and can indicate deception.

At the end, he actually lists all the things he did do. Although he qualified it at first by saying this is what the police are alleging he did, he actually said what he did. In statement analysis, guilty people often slip in what really happened. The police know it too, and they said "that's exactly what we're saying".

Interesting video. I decided to re-watch it without sound, just to observe his body language. When people are lying, one of the signs is they don't move their body, because they are having to concentrate on their speech and not slipping up. In this case his body was absolutely frozen until he got to the end when he started using his hand to count off the things he had done, like taking the kids to school, cooking dinner and taking the kids to the zoo.

I've watched an experiment where they asked an actor to recite the alphabet while stepping backwards and forwards and swinging the arms around. She was able to do this without a problem, the alphabet was recited from actual memory, naturally. Then she was asked to recite the alphabet backwards and keep moving. She couldn't do it, her body gradually stopped moving while she was having to think about and work out the order of the letters.

For anyone following the Helen Bailey case, Simon Russell Flint was the Prosecutor.
