In the BBC update they get even more specific:

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-birmingham-40170407

I think it very unusual for the Police to say specifically where a anonymous tip came from!? A quick look on Street View shows only one phone box on lake Street. Me thinks the Police know who they seek....

Yeah. Maybe the person told them they was ringing from elsewhere? No matter what they clearly want that person to know that they know where they was calling from, they are taking what they said seriously and it's them specifically they want to talk to again.

Is that the phone box outside the Post Office at Fiveways? Would Post Offices have some cctv (hopefully outside) usually?

It ook to me as if it was possibly a Congregational Church cemetery, but if so it was still in use in 2004:

http://www.martin-nicholson.info/cemetery/cemeteryruiton.htm

It may still be open.

I'm pretty sure that's a different building, a few hundred metres SSE of the cemetery in question, on the corner of Hermit Street and Holloway Street.

http://www.sedgleymanor.com/churches/wesleyan/gornal_ruiton_chapel.jpg

From what I can see of the cemetery they're investigating there is no building associated with the site, and indeed Streetview shows that the only access by road, from Duke Street, is firmly barricaded by steel fencing and that the area behind the gate is very overgrown. I do believe there would have been a non-conformist chapel on the site, which the cemetery served, but that is is long gone.

I'm minded to make some calls today and see if I can find anything out about the site.

Doesnt look as though anything has been found althougj mention has been made to anotger orea of graves being looked at

I'm not sure if I've missed any of these details. Do we know where she was living was it with family or with her boyfriend? Who was the last person to see her? What was the voicemail about? How did she get around in general - her horses are an hour away from her home.

In the pictures of her she has very dark circles under her eyes, did she have a rough lifestyle?

To answer some of these questions from the multitude of press releases (which actually contain very little info.)

I initially thought Thornleigh was her own home (i.e she lived there alone) however i've seen reports that it was the family home.

I've seen conflicting reports regarding who saw her last. In her dads Express and Star interview today, which i posted earlier he stated he had seen her the night before in a local pub. It was unknown where she had spent the night but she returned to the family home in Thornleigh about 9am. Her dad then went to work. Now the conflicting part is who she left the baby with ive seen some press releases stating he was left with her family, others saying with the babys dad..ive not been able to establish which is true.

The voicemail i believe was confirmed and validated. It did not say on whose phone it had been left but Natalie intimated she may be going to Tamworth.

In terms of travelling..i may be wrong but at that age she was probably relying more on lifts and/or public transport. The paddocks which were dug up were in the vicinity of himley hall. Whilst it is a good hours walk away there was at the time (and to some extent even all these years later still is) a decent bus route between the two areas - whilst the bus doesnt consderably shorten the time taken to get between the two places it would have meant she was dry and warm all year round

New plea from family. Mystery caller named 2 individuals responsible for Natalies death. Other articles by the same paper state these names have been mentioned previously - wonder eho they are? There is obviously not enough evidence to haul them in or i eould have thought police would have already done so

Hey guys.
I'm a writer and filmmaker and my partner and I are exploring the possibility of producing an audio (podcast) documentary about Natalie's case. As someone from the area, I find this case both fascinating and disturbing and ultimately just want to see it solved. Our goal would be to generate interest in the case in a way that creates an atmosphere where people are comfortable opening up and sharing what they know. I don't know if any of you guys have ever listened to the Up & Vanished podcast, but that's the kind of thing we'd be going for should we decide to go ahead.

We are currently in the very early stages of exploring this and so haven't reached out to the family yet. I'd be really keen to hear from anyone local who has followed the case and has a good knowledge of it. If you feel this might be you, do please feel free to get in touch with me at BlackCountryMystery@gmail.com

Thanks.
Joe

An update on this case:

Police search woodland swamp in hunt for teenage mother who went missing 14 years ago after Britain's Got Talent appeal yields fresh leads

Police are scouring woodlands in the hunt for a teenage mother who went missing 14 years ago after Britain's Got Talent choir yielded fresh leads.

Natalie Putt was 17 when she left her home in the Lower Gornal area of Dudley, West Midlands, to go to a local shop in September 2003.

She was never seen again and left behind her baby son, Rhys, who was just 11 weeks old.

Acting on new information in June about Miss Putt, who disappeared in 2003, West Midlands Police said it had launched a murder inquiry.

Her son is 14 now. He deserves to know what happened to his mum.
I hope something will finally break in this case. It's not the only "cold case" from the missing persons choir appearance that's got leads either, so it's definitely brought back memories and/or rattled some cages.

Natalie Putt murder investigation: inquest set to open

2619595.jpg

Natalie Putt, aged 17, from Lower Gornal, went missing in September 2003 - 11 weeks after giving birth to her son Rhys.

The teenager, who lived at Thornleigh, vanished without a trace and despite extensive police searches - she has never been found.

Enquiries into Natalie's disappearance have since turned into a murder investigation - although police have never found her body - and an inquest into her presumed death is set to be opened this afternoon at Black Country Coroner's Court in Oldbury.

A spokesman for West Midlands Police said: "The Chief Coroner has now decided the time is right to hold an inquest. The family have been kept updated."

Meanwhile - the police investigation into Natalie's disappearance continues and officers still wish to speak to anyone who has any information, no matter how insignificant they feel it might be, that may shed new light on what happened to the teenager.

Anyone with information is urged to contact the investigation team on 101 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.

Inquest to open into Dudley teen's death

Natalie Putt: Open verdict as coroner says missing mum 'likely died near home'
A coroner has ruled that Natalie Putt – who vanished from her Dudley home more than 15 years ago – is likely to have died at her home or nearby on the day she disappeared.

An inquest was held to shed light on the 17-year-old’s disappearance after a request from West Midlands Police.

And today Mr Siddique concluded: “The medical cause of death remains unascertained.

"I don’t know from the evidence and circumstances her medical cause of death. But am satisfied she is deceased.”

News article just came out which answers lots of questions previously asked here on this thread. It has also much more information than I have seen before about the circumstances.

The ex-boyfriend of a young mother who vanished in 2003 on her way to the shops leaving her 11-week-old baby behind today denied killing her at an inquest.
---
On the day she disappeared, she had just been dropped off at home by her new boyfriend Chris Millard having broken up with the father of her son, Kevin McCallum, weeks earlier.
---
Mr McCallum (ex) was quizzed by police on several occasions and arrested on suspicion of murder in March 2004 before being released without charge.
---
He told the inquest how he met Natalie at a training course in the summer of 2002.
---
'We didn't make any plans for the future - the baby was born in June. When the baby was born I stayed over at hers a few times to do some nappy changes and feeds.

'I didn't know what their relationship was between Natalie and Chris (new bf). When she started to see him we were on a break.

'I wasn't too happy, I wanted to know who this man was spending time with my son. She felt she needed some space, time on her own.
---
Describing the day she disappeared, Mr McCallum (ex) said: 'We went upstairs to talk about the relationship. We were smoking at the time.

'Then she said she was going to get some more cigarettes. I didn't see her leave the front door. I went back to feeding the baby. It had taken 45 minutes to feed him and then I went down stairs. Later that evening I saw her phone was on the side.'

The inquest heard a taxi driver told police he had been called to the house and a man came out carrying a baby and holding four or five black bin bags.

During the police investigation, bin bags were recovered from the loft as well as a blood-stained T-shirt which matched Natalie's DNA.

Mr McCallum denied putting bags in the taxi. He told the inquest: 'I never said I didn't get a taxi, I'm saying the taxi driver is a liar. I want to make sure the truth comes out. I didn't put anything into the taxi.
---
Mr Millard (her new bf), 32, told the hearing he had dropped Natalie off at her home on the day she disappeared in a car he changed a week later.

He said: 'In 2003 I was living with my nan. I was about 17-years-old. I met Natalie through the horses and I think her dad had a horse off me.
---
She was with me on that Sunday night -August 31, 2003. The baby was with us too.

'On the day she went missing I dropped her off at home in the morning about 8am and Kevin was waiting for her at the house.

Ex-boyfriend of young mother, 17, who vanished in 2003 denies murder | Daily Mail Online

So Natalie disappeared after she and her newly born spend night with her new bf. Bf brought her to her home in the morning where her ex was waiting for her...

For some reason I do not think she ever went to any shop... Her ex was last person to see her and bloody shirt with her DNA was found hidden in the loft... Body or not, I am surprised he was not locked up long ago.
