Have you seen missing man Neil Marland?

Officers are concerned for Neil’s welfare and are asking anyone who sees him or a van he may be travelling in to get in touch.

Neil, 41, was last seen in Cockermouth on April 20.

He is described as white, 6ft tall and of slim build. He has facial hair and short, dark hair.

He may be driving a Ford Transit Custom van which has a bright red bonnet and Benns Self Drive written on it. This van has the registration: SN17 ZBE.

Anyone who sees Neil or his vehicle is asked to contact police on 101.

If Neil sees this appeal himself he is asked to contact officers on the same number.

We can confirm that the body of a man was found on Sunday 23 April in the area of Ennerdale Bridge and Ennerdale Water.

Formal identification has taken place and has been identified as 41-year-old Neil Marland from Maryport.

The death is being treated as not suspicious.

A file is being prepared for the coroner.

With heavy hearts, the team have been informed of the passing of one of our own, Mr Neil Marland.
Over the past couple of years, Neil has been a keen volunteer of Maryport Rescue and has been involved in a multitude of ways, from being part of the active team, supporting and driving fundraising activities along with maintenance and everything in between, he was instrumental in being a key part of the organisation and helped promote its existence through more ways than one.

Our condolences, thoughts and well wishes are with those of Neil’s families, he will be dearly missed by many.

Stand down Neil, your duty is done. Fair winds and following seas.
