I live in Helmsley. Definitely a deliberate choice sadly :( I can’t stop thinking about him

Welcome, and lucky you, I love Helmsley! Is that the general local consensus, do you think, that Nicholas went off to kill himself?

The pressure schools put on teachers is intense.
With a family to support he could have felt he could not just leave.
Many teachers are at breaking point.

Thank you! I was googling his name to see if there were any updates and found this forum. Yeah it is unfortunately :/ the woods he went into are huge and dense and because he’s an “ultra runner” who knows how far out he went or even up onto the moors, I also know he was very depressed in his teaching job. I’m torn as to whether he wanted to be alone and “in private” somewhere to kill himself or if he just wasn’t thinking and wanted to go off grid? The night he disappeared it was extremely cold though

I don’t know if discussing more personal things is okay?? but yeah my friends little sister was in his maths class and he gave her and some of his other favourite students cards the day before he disappeared and she also said that he was having a lot of observations from senior teachers etc. and she said he was a really nice guy but not a great teacher :/ I feel so awful for him honestly

What's your take on the sightings up near Stokesley?

What's your take on the sightings up near Stokesley?
I’m conflicted, nothing solid seems to have come from anything and there’s tons of men in running gear around that people could mistake, the fact he was struggling with his job and gave cards out the day before just sends my gut feeling to suicide? Fingers crossed he is close by and alive though

What did the cards say? Anything ominous?

This is deeply saddening.

My heart is with his family right now, who must be beside themselves with worry.

Oh blimey, just catching up on this one. How sad. I also think it would be very useful to know what the cards to his favourite pupils said. It's not looking good is it.

@M_E123 - would you be able to find out what he wrote in the cards? If he said "Goodbye" that's a good indication of what happened.

How sad. I am not entirely surprised but I am glad that his family can now begin to get some closure. RIP Nicholas.

Oh no, sad news. Seems he didn’t go too far away from his car after all :(
