I have my mobile number on my dog’s tag, as do most people.
The person probably just saw a dog.. made dog safe in their own mind. police know and have spoken with this witness. If there was anything there it is unlikely they would have launched a multi agency, massive budget search and rescue operation.

it might have had her partners name or at least my dogs have both our numbers on them.
Well, no one phoned her partner, so by that we can deduce that Nicola’s number was on the tag.

As a dog walker myself and have been for years, the very large Common I take my dog is busy with dog walkers between approximately 07:30 and 09:00.

After that you just have the occasional walker as most everyone else has gone back home to get on with their day. So I’m not at all surprised the area would have been quiet after 09:00 when NB was there. I believe just a small handful of walkers were captured on CCTV or spotted when NB was there at 09:10 (the last sighting of her).

I’m also confused why the one CCTV that isn’t working is frequently mentioned. I know that’s their one black spot, but how would anyone know it wasn’t working?
The police looked at it?

That’s absolutely true.

Some drowned victims can take weeks, even months, before resurfacing - and often resurface miles away from where they drowned. The firefighter who drowned in the river in Lewes a couple of years ago wasn’t found for about a month, and he resurfaced where the river met the sea.

I remember an RNLI chief predicting where he’d probably be found. He was spot on. I wonder if the police have have contacted them for assistance? They really know their onions and know exactly how the rivers and sea ebb and flow and how far bidies can travel, even down to where they’ll probably resurface.

I remember the case. Very sad. Just as with NB, a lot of completely unfounded speculation of abduction etc until the body was eventually found several weeks weeks later near the sea.

I explained that yesterday. Several people did.
Yet, here we are.
Sorry, I didn’t see that discussion. This site is very fast moving and I simply don’t have the time to read back through hundreds and hundreds of posts.

I wasn't suggesting you saw it but it erupted on multiple occasions..

Only a telephone number. You don’t have your address on the tag for obvious reasons.

The law states all dogs must be chipped, which mine is, but there’s no law stating you must have all details on a small tag. Just a telephone number is sufficient.
I actually meant number although mine have their names on also

People don't always know to look at tags.
Mine just says dolly on tag dont know where this law is it has to have name address number mothers maiden name dental records on it

Yes, there were people saying he’d left his wife and moved to Brighton, others saying they saw him walking oddly, some saying he’d been bundled in a car, some saying he’d been mugged and harmed, some saying he’d had a mental breakdown or developed amnesia. Some saying a young man and woman were highly suspicious and had followed him, some saying he’d gone to a rough area where criminals and gangs hung around….

It was awful.

One thing I have never understood is why did they ring the school when Willow had a tag on her collar which would have had her owners phone number/s on?
school was also the last place she had been so maybe necessary to make sure she had not returned there for some reason. it's a village so the the other dog walkers might even have known that she usually walked the dog after a school drop off.

I thought it was somewhat established that the school was contacted as they didn't have contact details for NB, they just knew who she was.

I have my number and my name on as people were advised not to have the dog’s name engraved on the tag due to dog thieves stealing breeds that were expensive. They’d see the dog’s name and call them, making it easier to steal them.

Similar where I live. I don’t have a dog but often walk a local route frequented by dog walkers and at certain times, usually before 9am/lunch time/after 3pm I’ll pass many dog walkers but outside these times it can be fairly quiet. So the lack of people after 9/9.30 doesn’t surprise me.
I don’t think it’s impossible for NB to have left alone and at a stretch with third party willingly or not but it’s a massive risk as the river path back to a busy road is very narrow so you would pass someone very closely which is risky.
I hope she is found soon for the sake of her family and friends, I can’t imagine what they’re going through.
MOO

they don't last long here, the terrier takes the wolfhound's tag and she takes his and they both go out and bury them.
Ah well...thems da breaks!

I always assumed there are academic experts on water flows and all the science involved in that- I imagine police would have consulted such experts to understand feasibility/timings etc. based on the relevant natural forces alone- there is certainly some science/relevant calculations that can be made to make a pretty strong working assumption/hypothesis. I would be extremely surprised if the police don’t have such expert analysis/input and the fact they haven’t ruled that out means that potentially the expert advice is suggesting, yes, it is “scientifically” possible that sadly a human can fall into river and not have surfaced/been found yet.

This is a very tricky case as of course, despite being the most likely turn of events, there is no supporting evidence.
This is what I have been wondering as well! I posted a few posts back that very thing, although you have described it much more intelligently :) I would guess Great Britain has many experts that LE has consulted with? To me, it would be crucial and of paramount importance.

That's why I have the name dolly in bold capitals on mine

I don't think it has been confirmed that Willow was wearing the collar when she was found, has it?

If i seen a dog on the loose i'd go in the opposite direction.

<modsnip - quoted post was removed for quoting without including the source>
Maybe she’d changed mortgage providers due to the increased interest charges, and had got a better deal for herself.

If so, and even if she was upbeat for finalising a deal of someone else’s mortgage, that’s hardly the attitude of someone planning to vanish.

I think she must have, otherwise there’d be nothing to attach the lead to.
