Yes I agree. But Hall Lane is the other side of the river. If it's connected to her disappearance how has NB gotten there without being seen?

I've just realised we don't have any information on where Nicola parked her car.
But we know she drove there, and dropped the kids at school.

It looks from street view, that parents park along Hall Lane leading up to a property that looks like a barn.

If you 'drive' further up they appear to have a large car park ( although it could have been full, probably room for about 30 spaces in it)

You mentioned, earlier in the thread that you were not sure if the police were treating Nicola’s disappearance as very suspicious early on. I would have to agree, I feel too much emphasis was on Nicola falling in to the river, a ‘tragic accident’ based on the scene surrounding the bench, so close to the river. I appreciate this scenario may still be the case and could still be an obvious conclusion.
I saw the other day a Telegraph article that mentioned a ‘tatty red van’ which I could not read due to the paywall. The Sun have now written their own article on this. The person states that they called on the day of her disappearance (Friday 27th January) via 101. The person then re-reports the van sighting (from the 27th) again on the 2nd February (the following Thursday). You would have to assume that’s because no police had been in touch. The Red van is seen on ‘Hall Lane’ outside a barn in St Michael’s on Wyre. This road runs directly below the river near to where Nicola was last supposed to be. I would like to think that this sort of information could be vital to an investigation and yet the person had to re-report it. It makes me wonder how many other bits of information have slipped through the net/yet to be handled or need re-reporting?

I appreciate the police are currently handling over 500 lines of enquiry and it’s an immense task but surely a local person reporting a suspicious tatty van, outside a barn on a road a field or so away from where she was last seen, on the day she went missing, might get some priority?

For sleuthing purposes (whilst the thread was out of action) I have looked for a nearby cake shop, as mentioned in the article. I think the nearest could be Light Ash Farm Shop & Cafe (PR3 0RT) which seems to be renowned for their cakes and is not far from Hall Lane. Although the cake shop really isn’t relevant!

If I were a family or friend I would be concerned that potentially life saving information was not being handled quickly enough and this could explain some of the behind the scenes frustrations we appear to be seeing. JMOO

Could not of worded that better. To rule out foul play and not shut down the whole area is a complete error plain and simple. My theroy all along was something in that upper field happened. It was last place she was seen. She was not seen by anyone on the bench or at the river. Bench rivet bench river that's all it's been about. Then after a week they decided to ask people with dash cam footage. This all should of been done from day 1. This looks a good lead this red van. Let's hope it's the start of solving all this and hope and pray nicola is ok.

Based purely on Street View, Hall Lane seems relatively narrow. It looks like people might park up close to the school for drop off, but those cars basically block that side of the lane. I can’t see anything resembling a barn that a red van might be parked up by that would attract attention.

<modsnip: Quoted post was removed> what I mean is NB may have left the bench by being tricked / threatened - perhaps under duress got to the bridge exit at say 9.25 and bundled into the red tatty van that had moved from hall lane in the meantime. JMO. Speculation.

Should add that NB probably travels down Hall Lane to get to the school so perhaps (if red van occupant is involved) he had seen her before. JMO.

She might not have got that far - the van occupant may have threatened her at the bench and got her to the van at the Garstang lane path exit, which had been moved there in the meantime. Still would be surprised if no one had seen that though! IMO.

We should bear in mind that just because the person who reported the van hasn't heard back from police, doesn't mean that the van hasn't been discreetly investigated and ruled out and that may be why it hasn't been mentioned before.

The narrow roads are exactly why the witness may have thought it was odd.
Also this looks like a barn: (we need a local to chip in, they are obviously using slang for the area)

That route out is a small path with no exit routes, largely fenced in. Very visible to anyone walking in the other direction.

Yes I agree it’s probably far fetched but just thinking of a way red van could be involved without NB crossing the river wyre. IMO.

Has there been much discussion on bins and bin collections?

A wheelie bin would be a way that a body or alive person could be moved to another location without much suspicion. Nicola is only 5 ft 3, so a possibility. They could then be moved elsewhere in a vehicle.

Were there any wheelie bins placed in easily accessible locations to the field and bench area?

Nicola went missing on a Friday so its unlikely bins were collected before the Monday (unless there was a Friday collection after 9am). Did searches of properties and gardens take place before routine bin collections and/or were bin collections in the immediate vicinity stopped?
