Bleach , only takes a minute amount I would think to completely alter the taste like they said it was only a small amount.. Could be the Source of supply in processing .
. bleach is used for sterilization of Milk Bottles, Beverages Bottles, also medical equipment.

Bizarre, but possible, I suppose, on beverage containers - having been long ago a dishwasher guy at a medical center, yes, we did use products that might have contained a minute amount of bleach - in the detergent one used to fill the industrial strength automatic dishwasher, perhaps. But the rinse cycle would, well, rinse any detergent smell (or taste, of course) from the dishes, and the water used was amazingly, blazingly, hot. But still - maybe possible due to a series of malfunctions, the cup containing the milk may have had a bleachy smell. Somehow.

must only work, in the capacity as a registered nurse, at Stepping Hill hospital
must not hold the drugs keys for any ward, department or nursing team
must not engage in ordering, receipt and secure storage of any medicinal products (as defined by the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA))
must not administer any medicinal product (as defined by MHRA) unless under the direct supervision of another registered nurse
must notify her employer of the interim conditions imposed on her practice by the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC).
For the purposes of these conditions, direct supervision is defined as the direct oversight of Ms Leighton by another registered nurse who is attentive and cognisant of the activities taking place.

In fairness i agree with them rules for the time being BUT...i think the whole hospital needs looking at very closely and in all honesty I would be afraid to even be a patient in there...and i cant help but think the local people must be worried about being taken ill right now

I am appalled that they have Foundation Trust Status

I would refuse to allow any of my loved ones to be treated there

This hospital is a disgrace, just a quick google found this link from June 2011
The report slammed staff for failing to record and monitor the eating habits of some of their most vulnerable patients.

In the most shocking incident, a patient was found to have lost 5.7kgs (12.5lbs) over 17 days. The report said inspectors saw &#8216;no evidence that their nutritional risk assessment had been reviewed&#8217; or that the patient had been referred to a dietician.

Other observations included:

A bed-ridden patient being given nothing to drink for at least four hours.
Hand washing facilities not being routinely offered.
A &#8216;chaotic, noisy and disorganised&#8217; mealtime.
Patients being interrupted by staff while trying to eat.
Conversations between staff demonstrating a lack of respect towards patients. The inspection also found staff failing to notice female patients kicking off bed covers and leaving their legs exposed.

Quote It has not been confirmed if the milk was given as a drink or with tea, coffee or breakfast cereal. / After a bottle of milk may have been contaminated with bleach.

They seem to be a bit unclear of the source here, but worried enough to close the ward, which they had to in the light of the ongoing investigation anyway I suppose. Doubt we will here much more if it is an internal accident.

Seems like butter wouldn't melt in her mouth. After going through something like that she has a lot of confidence. Noticed they still showed her swigging from a bottle in that video and she was questioned about no smoke without fire. I suspect those who have always claimed her innocence on here will now be totally convinced . But if this is how nurses are expected to behave and nmc accept it, well who are we to judge.

"Fears at Stepping Hill have increased following two fresh scares in different parts of the hospital within the past fortnight. Detectives from Stockport CID were called in to investigate a suspected copycat poisoner who spiked milk with bleach.

The milk was poured onto the breakfast cereal of a patient on D2, a first-floor orthopaedic ward next to the intensive care unit. A man in his 50s alerted staff after he was served and tasted the meal.

And we can reveal that the alarm was raised again days afterwards by staff who suspected a sugar bowl may have been contaminated in the same kitchen.

It is thought that soap powder was put in the bowl used by nurses and doctors. Inquiries are continuing to establish if the action was deliberate or just accidental due to cleaning.

Police believe neither incident is linked to the contaminated saline investigation &#8211; and instead offers more proof of heightened vigilance."

How can the Police be certain that the above incidences are not linked? Seems to me that someone is taunting the Police and must feel very confident that they won't be caught

After the finding of Tramadol in Nurse RL's property I am left wondering how many nurses are helping themselves from the drug cabinets?
When I worked in hospitals I know that it was an endemic problem. We have no programmes here for addicted nurses

All three were unlawfully administered insulin but it has not yet been established whether that was a significant contributing factor to their deaths, police say.

Still coming out with this on up-to-date reports. It is taking a long time it seems unless they are keeping it quiet to reduce fear at the hospital.

A spokeswoman for Stepping Hill said: "The internal review of Rebecca's case has begun and will proceed in the normal way.
"These investigations can take some time to complete. We cannot be more definitive in terms of timings at this stage."

Would she want to return under the restrictions imposed by the NMC and if she did I can't help thinking people would be even more concerned about being treated at that hospital, so what with taking the drugs as well I wouldn't think the hospital has many options.
