GUILTY UK - Olivia Pratt-Korbel, 9, shot dead, Liverpool, 22 Aug 2022 *arrest*

From today's testimony, same witness as yesterday. So she did come forward very quickly.

When we came forward on day two, there was not a reward at all.

This is a bit of a car crash.

I would hate to have to discuss a casual relationship in public with him listening.

I feel she's coming across quite plausibly, especially when he said she did it for the money and she replied no reward had been offered when she came forward.

I wonder who "we" is. Do you think she means paul Russell? It seems to me she didnt want to drop him in it which is why she said cashman took the clothes but then who is " we"?

I've assumed Paul Russell too (she mentions that she called him on the night of the shooting so it seems that she knows him to some degree) but it would be good to have clarity on this.

Finally .....

Court resumes

Mr Cooper resumes his questioning of the witness. He says he will clarify some context for her understanding.
He says: “We say that you are lying when you say the def came to your home on August 22, do you understand that?"

W: "I do."

JC: “It follows therefore you are lying about what he said to you."

“My lady, we’ve no further questions.”

I can't forgive anyone who has hurt any child"

Mr McLachlan: “You are here, in essence you are giving evidence against Mr Cashman?”

W: “It hurts me doing it, I’m not gonna lie."

DM: “What is your reason for giving evidence against him?”

The witness becomes tearful. She says: “Because of this little girl. I’m sorry, I can’t forgive anyone who has hurt any child. If he was any sort of man he’d just f****** own it. I can’t believe he’s making the family go through what they’re going through. It’s a child, it’s a child. She can never go home ever again. It breaks my heart. They should all be ashamed of themselves who are supporting him as well, every last one of them.”

That finishes the questions that will be asked of the witness.

The jury are taken out of the courtroom while she leaves court.

I think that was a very effective way to end her testimony. Sounds like it was spoken from the heart.

I want to what is happening to his girlfriend, Kayleanne, who seems to be ferrying him about in her range Rover, will she be on trial up for assisting an offender?

Or is she going to be called as a witness to testify against him (seems unlikely), does she just get off scot-free?

my thoughts exactly! same with the niece and boyfriend?

I’m also interested in the responsibility of joseph nee in all this, obviously the shooter bears primarily responsibility but nee did break into their house, causing affray or an assault. has he just been let off?

He was recalled to prison, straight from the hospital, due to "poor behaviour". I assume thats in relation to the fact he wouldnt cooperate with detectives (gang code or whatever)

I don't see how she can be, unless the Prosecution can show a direct connection between these trips and the shooting.

He was out on licence - so any breach of conditions would have him returned to prison.

Good morning

Good morning all,
After some slight delays due to congestion on the M62, we are back in Manchester Crown Court for day eight of the trial of Thomas Cashman.

Yesterday the witness who claimed Cashman came to her home on the night of Olivia's murder finished giving evidence. She tearfully told the jury she "can't forgive anyone who hurt a child" and denied lying about that night to "get Cashman off the scene".

Our Crown Court reporter Adam Everett is in position in courtroom one, and Crime Reporter Jonathan Humphries is in the media annexe in the building where proceedings are being livestreamed.

We are due to get underway shortly.

Concern over online post

Justice Yip calls the jury in.
She tells the jury a concern has been raised about something posted online overnight by an individual.
She reminds them not to research material online about the case, and says the post is being investigated and action will be taken. "I would not want anything to affect the case."

The trial will now resume.

Agreed facts

Henry Riding, junior counsel for the prosecution, will now turn to agreed facts in the case. This is a list of evidence in trials that is not disputed by the prosecution or defence.

Mr Riding tells the jury

Cashman lived on Grenadier Drive and drove a Citroen Berlingo.

His partner Kayleeanne Sweeney lived at the same address and drove a Land Rover Discovery.

Coleen Cashman lived on Mab Lane,

Kevin Dunn lived on Finch Lane

Joseph Nee watched football at a house on Finch Lane, which was Timothy Naylor’s home, and drove a white van.

Paul Abraham, Mr Naylor’s friend, left the property with Joseph Nee.

Cheryl Korbel lived on Kingsheath Avenue with her children Ryan Korbel, Chloe Korbel and Olivia Pratt-Korbel.
Olivia was Cheryl’s youngest child.

Nicholas McHale lived on Snowberry Road,

Paul McCarthy was staying at this address at the time of the shootings.

Craig Byrne also lived on Snowberry Road.

Was she aware of all this?
Was TC in hiding?
I somehow missed these details.

These are the transcripts of TCs journeys with KS - on August 23 and August 24.
At this point he has not been arrested.

A third journey comes shortly after 12.30pm on August 23

Almost two hours later, CCTV shows Kayleeanne Sweeney’s Land Rover Discovery drive away from their address.
It is believed that she is the driver.
The vehicle then arrives at Mab Lane.
Cashman exits the front passenger seat and enters an address as the car drives off, shortly after 2.30pm.
Around 15 minutes later, footage shows a white Citroen Nemo van arrive pull up outside the house on Mab Lane.
This is a vehicle driven by John Murphy.
Ms Sweeney is also seen returning.
Cashman gets in the front passenger seat of the van, which drives off.
Ms Sweeney’s vehicle also exits.

The jury is now shown CCTV of Cashman and Ms Sweeney on the evening of August 24 2022, showing him at a block of flats at the Decks in Runcorn.
He is seen holding a bag as he waits to enter the lifts, while his partner is pulling a suitcase.
They are then seen leaving the apartments again. Shortly after midnight on August 25, they are seen at an Asda supermarket in the Cheshire town.
Footage shows them entering the shop, then at self-service checkouts.
The couple then leave again.
They then return to the Decks with a bag for life.
The next morning at 10.15am, Cashman and Ms Sweeney leave again.
Her Land Rover is then seen travelling back towards Merseyside, making a return journey shortly after 10pm.
Further CCTV shows them inside the apartment complex.
Cashman puts his arm around Ms Sweeney’s shoulders and rubs her arm, at the entrance to the lifts, before the pair get inside.
