Just to tidy it up:

11:36KEY EVENT

Sentence appeal refused

Dame Sharp:
“The sentence imposed by the judge was a long one, it means the applicant will be well into his seventies before being considered for his release..
“The length of the sentence reflects the terribleness of his crimes rather than any error on the part of the judge.
“There were no mitigating factors, there was no remorse. Permission to appeal is refused”.
That concludes the hearing. Thanks for following our updates.

Am i reading this right? Cashman still has the option to appeal against the murder conviction itself
even though he lost his appeal against the length of the sentence.

There was me thinking it was all over.

I thought there had to be new evidence in order to challenge the conviction ?

I thought there had to be new evidence in order to challenge the conviction ?
Im pretty sure it will be something to do with court procedures or how the police acted while doing their investigations etc..

Cashman has nothing to lose but im sure his appeal will be quickly dismissed and then he can finally knuckle down
to his 42 years of being hated in a box.

Article not specifically about Olivia, but is mentioned.
_____

The day after the cocaine heist, Vincent Coggins gets his hands on CCTV of the robbery from a neighbour's house.

The footage shows three masked men getting out of a van. A fourth man was carrying a parcel, pretending to be a delivery driver. Within four minutes, they make their escape with the Huyton Firm's cocaine.

The group's messages show the video was obtained by Thomas Cashman - a hitman for the Huyton Firm.
Cashman would later be jailed for life for the murder of nine-year-old Olivia Pratt-Korbel, who was caught in the crossfire of a gangland shooting.

Appeal against conviction dismissed. Some mad story about the police going into the jury room and giving them evidence not seen at trial, supposedly heard about in a pub by a non-identifiable person.

32. There is no admissible evidence before the court. The contents of the conversation with
Male 4 represent multiple hearsay, in circumstances which would not persuade this
court to admit the material as evidence under any of the gateways set out in the Criminal
Justice Act 2003.

33. Moreover, even if the existing material were in evidential form and could be heard, it
would not represent credible evidence of jury irregularity.
