UK paralympian - Sam Ruddock - missing in Las Vegas

I decided to check local Las Vegas news to see if I see anything about him being missing.

There may be other local LV news websites but these were the first ones that came up in a search.

He does look like a “trusting soul.”

Also, no one knows where he went after the pawn store. It doesn’t seem plausible that the store didn’t have a working camera. It is Las Vegas. But he did not post anything after April 16th. Likewise, I can not believe that with the casinos and attractions, no one saw “Steve” or his car. Even if he is not local. You can’t be unseen around the Strip.

I hope the British Embassy is involved.

Ruddock may have run out of funds, since his friends have messaged his mother saying he had asked for money before his disappearance, Fran Ruddock (his mother) said.

His close friend Lucy Hatton said his disappearance was "really, really out of character" but that he had not "been in quite the right head space" recently.

Along with his mother, Ms Hatton said she alerted the police in the UK and they raised the case with police in the United States and with Interpol.

Lincolnshire Police confirmed there was an active missing persons investigation.

A Foreign Office spokesperson said: "We are supporting the family of a British man reported missing in Las Vegas and are in contact with the local authorities."

is believed he did not make it to the wrestling event he went to see, which was set to take place on April 19 and 20.

It seems as if Mr Ruddock has hitchhiked with the man, as they discuss where he is going to drop him off - at the Pawn Shop, where American reality TV show Pawn Stars is filmed, about the day-to-day running of the shop.

The athlete says he wanted to go to 'Fremont' originally - presumably Fremont Street, the city's second most-famous street after the Strip.

But the American man says he cannot take him all the way so drops him off at the Pawn Shop instead
- and tells the sportsman about various friends of his in the city he should get to know.

Mr Ruddock mentions having left some of his stuff behind in his hostel room, which he was sharing with minor-league baseball players: 'They're chill.'

Brit Paralympian, 35, vanishes while on holiday in Las Vegas

He was last seen wearing a blue shirt, black trousers and a cycling helmet.

There are few places to rent bikes in LV. There is the Ride, an indoor cycling space, and a ton of “outdoor scenic rides”. I just Googled “outdoor scenic rides, Las Vegas”, and thought, god forbid he decided to go. “Wrong” side of the road for a Brit, plus, the mountains and canyons.

He did sound slightly hyped up in his video, so it could be spring, and a stream of impulsive decisions. There is a lot of sun in Nevada.

Sounds like he had bad luck at the casinos and tried to pawn something to get money. His situation is much more dire if he's broke in Vegas on vacation.

And what does Paralympian mean? I thought that was for athletes who have a disability... Am I mixing that up with something else??

It's concerning that he had seemingly run out of funds so early in his trip. Did he simply completely underestimate what it would cost or was he spending money on gambling, drugs or prostitutes?

He has cerebral palsy

Can you purchase firearms in NV pawn shops? MOO.

Also, was it social media activity aka a post showing he was there or was it his location showing on snapchat or something, placing him at a pawn shop but no explicit proof it was him? What if someone was trying to pawn his phone and it was not wiped? MOO

I did wonder about the pawn shop, whether he was trying to raise funds.
Playing Devils advocate... this particular pawn shop is featured in a TV show and is likely visited by people who just want to say they've been there, see it in person, meet the people from TV etc. as well. He may have been trying to pawn something or purchase something, but he may also have just wanted to mark it off as a place visited.

Apparently they also offer tours & scheduled visits of the shop on Thursdays and Fridays according to their website.
