I heard his body was found around November 2021 in Switzerland. There's an obituary page dedicated to him which mentions Valais (a Swiss canton). But I can read it since it's behind a paywall.

The obituary page is behind a paywall, but when I searched for "philippe fraser suisse trouver un décès" (find a death in Switzerland" I could see the info below, that hs death occurred on 20 October 2021, and a church service was to be held on 8 April 2022 in Val-d'Illiez. I don't know if his family has some connection to Switzerland, but his given name has a French spelling.
