What is the significance of PA demanding a jury trial? What would be the benefit for him?

It's very normal in litigation to demand a jury trial. Not sure there is any true significance. Other than, if it does make it to trial, they want a jury instead of a bench trial.

The thing that's bothering me is how the media and others report he will offer a settlement to avoid disgracing the queen’s special year of celebrations and saving face for royalty. This seems like such backwards thinking and makes them all seem complicit to what has occurred to just sweep it all under the rug. It keeps the cycle of abuse going imo for this powerful family/institution to not want to hold him fully accountable for his actions. That’s why I hope VG does not settle and sees it all the way through. Money will not solve this imo.

Yes, what I mean is I hope VG does not settle out of court just for the sake of getting money and no admission/verdict of guilt. OTOH, there may be no verdict of guilt if it proceeds to a jury.

I had a few things to say to this:

1. In civil court, no one is found guilty, they are found liable.
2. Most of the time, civil cases are settled becase it costs too much to go to trial. So the parties weigh the cost of the litigation versus what they thing they could get at trial or at a settlement.

Paying is a verdict of guilt.

I would never pay a cent if I were innocent.
Never.

I understand your sentiment. However, over 90% of civil cases are settled because the cost of litigation is too great.

So...
The person who is innocent has to pay?
What for?

If this liability or guilt or whatever is not proved, then what?

I think a person who started the lawsuit should pay all costs
in case nothing has been proved.

For me it is a matter of principle.

Thank you! Curious why the media is making PAs “demand” for a jury trial to be such a big deal if it’s very normal?

The prince’s lawyer, Andrew Brettler, is seeking this testimony to bolster his defense that Giuffre “may suffer from false memories,” the court documents show. Andrew’s team alleges Giuffre’s “claims regarding her time with Epstein and the circumstances under which [Andrew] allegedly assaulted her have repeatedly changed over the years.”

Andrew’s team wants to question Lightfoot about topics including Giuffre’s “alleged childhood trauma and abuse” and “opinions regarding [Giuffre’s] alleged emotional and psychological harm and damages,” as well as “theory of false memories.”

This from the guy who went from being admitted friends with both JE and GM, to well, JE was only a plus one to his friend GM, to, hey, Kevin Spacey, can you take the hit for knowing GM, I kinda have to distance myself from her. Thanks, Mate!

I have a question about this, how can someone remember seeing PA and VRG at a nightclub in 2001? I am not even sure I remember our address that year! Let alone where I went or who I saw...21 years ago?! On a specific day? At a specific place? This is not VRG, who experienced trauma. This is supposedly a random witness who verified she saw PA and VRG at a nightclub. In 2001.

But if PA was considered such a Royal "God's Gift" to women, maybe this meeting stuck in her mind?
This witness is very sure of what she saw that night.

Some events, even from early childhood, are remembered clearly.

From The Guardian Jan 2022:

“My client [Shukri Walker] says she was there and she remembers the night clearly because she never saw a royal before or since.

“She says Prince Andrew was happy, smiling and dancing, and Virginia did not look happy. My client was a trafficking victim herself and wants everyone to know that sex trafficking is real, ongoing and devastating.”

Bloom has also said she has given “the FBI all the details of my client’s story for further investigation”.

Sometimes it's more cost efficient to settle than to go to trial and take your chances. In civil cases, all that has to be proven is a preponderance of the evidence - more likely than not. Sometimes that risk isn't worth it.

With a settlement, there is no offer of proof for someone to determine. The parties have conducted discovery and decide to settle. Sometimes there is provisions for attorney's fees and costs.
