I don't think you'd boast in the pub about helping someone move house, clothes etc.

If he's prone to exaggerating rather than lying(I think that's how his friend described him) then he might decide to make a more interesting story out of a boring story about moving stuff for somebody whose girlfriend had thrown him out, but that 5K is the stumbling block for me!

I'm presuming the child was with them too?

Due to the child's age I would imagine the car seat would be difficult to remove and place in a new car, there is no guarantee it would have even fit in JI car. I wonder if the child was actually with them?

Snipped from UK and Eire as it has more detail in here

After agreeing to help move Matthews' things, Ireland and Karl Demetrius headed back to work to pick up a van.

The trio dropped Matthews off on Gloucester Road - so they could enter work - before collecting the vehicle and picking him back up.

The jury was told during this time Karl and girlfriend Jaydene Parsons were exchanging text messages, where she said “are you going to store it for him, we could do with the money”.

A little later on she sent another message which read, “cool that’s a deposit on a house”. When they arrived at Cotton Mill Lane, Ireland told the court “the male” – whose name he did not know – went in first, followed by Karl, then him.

But, Ireland said, he did not want to enter Cotton Mill Lane, due tot he smell and the clutter.
The smell and the state of the house, I stayed close to the door way, I didn’t move.

It wasn’t very inviting, I didn’t really want to go in.

I was just waiting, I stood there, next to the fridge freezer at the front door. I was just on my phone, on the internet, just texting, that kind of thing.

They went upstairs, the light wasn’t on, I couldn’t see what they were doing. They were up there for about 20 to 25 minutes.

I thought he was helping him with his stuff. He said when they came back downstairs Karl stayed in the hallway, while Matthews went into the lounge, for 10 to 15 minutes.

Ireland said the first he had heard the Matthews had taken items from the freezer was when he had given evidence in court.
That’s when we put the bags and the box into the van, and I said where are we going? - The court heard Ireland suggested Demetrius’ home, just a few metres away, and the trio set off there.
We then took the bags and the box out of the van and took it into 9 Barton Court. Ireland said the box had clothing on top, and he never looked underneath to see what else was in the box.

He added he didn’t unzip the suitcases and had no reason to do so, as he passed them into the kitchen.

He said he stayed in the kitchen to smoke a cigarette, while Matthews and Demetrius went into the living room.

The court heard Ireland and Demetrius left soon after, going straight back to work.

So at the moment there has been nothing mentioned about JI going into CML at all, not even as far as the hallway as NM said right?
Uk and Eire have posted quite a long summary where JI says he stood in the doorway of CML by the freezer. Was reluctant to go any further due to smell/clutter. KD and NM went upstairs for about 20 mins. No lights on. Took stuff to KDS. JI stayed in KD kitchen whilst KD and NM went in living room. They then went back to work

or going back after for a cigarette. this is driving me nuts, are we getting all the info do you think?

Loads more info on UK & Eire

Paraphrasing

NM and KD went in the house first, then him. He didnt wanna go in due to smell and clutter so stayed near door way next to the fridge freezer Light wasnt on upstairs and they were up there 20/ 25 minutes. Then NM went into lounge for 10/15 minutes. He didnt know he'd taken anything out of a freezer till he heard in court.

Took bags and box out of the van at Barton Court. Box had clothing on top, didn’t unzip suitcases, passed them into the kitchen. He stayed in kitchen smoking, NM and KD went into lounge

The smell - he noticed it yet SH never wondered what it was it didn't seem odd to her, apart from a blocked toilet !

Or they just weren't too fussed about the child being in a car seat.

JI handed over a series of prepared statements to police, which were read out, to help with his speech problems #beckywatts

JI says at no point did he deliberately try to mislead the court or the jury, and has always told the truth. #beckywatts

Wonder if the smell was just rotten garbage / dirty house or if it was the packages. I've never been around a body before so I have no idea what the smell is like.

#BeckyWatts trial: JI says he was 'upset, shocked and disgusted' when he found out what had happened to Becky and what was in the bags

@skyfieldnewsed ‏@skyrobcatherall · 1 min1 minute ago
Ireland asked how he feels now he knows he helped move Becky Watts' body - "Upset, shocked... and disgusted"

I think it was just the general smell of their house. The police officer said cat pee

Probably mixed with the smell of tuna and yoghurt

After all those days the smell of a corpse must have been overwhelming, even after his careful packaging. I think even the police officer was misled on where it came from.
My point is mentioning it is that SH could not have been unaware of that smell, whatever sort of dump they lived in.
