In any event, no matter what he has done, NM should remain safe in prison & free from inmate abuse...I have no tolerance for that no matter how vile the inmate/prisoner may be

I'll agree with that. It's nice to see that in some cases that justice is swift. Let's hope the sentences are appropriate.

Well, going with my hunch that NM and SH had decided leading up to that day that they were going to kill Becky in a wood, and stage it as a suicide, I am 100% certain that there was a kidnap plan. There is no other way they could get away with taking her away and her remaining alive. I do not believe that an argument over money or untidiness or attitude led to an unplanned killing. I think the purchase of the stun guns seals it.

I just got back from work and was going to agree with this post when I saw the verdicts had been reached. Like everyone else I am surprised at the speed of them and also am very happy with the outcome and feel justice has been served for Becky and her family.

I suddenly thought today that there was physical evidence of the kidnap plan - their text messages about kidnapping girls. I, along with many others I imagine, had dismissed these as a joke but when I thought about it, who actually does that? who would send jokey texts to their boyfriend about kidnapping people? The problem I guess, is when it's something you would never dream of doing yourself, it's hard to conceive others would do it.

Bit late with reply. I was very glad when we heard SH's charges included manslaughter, since I'd thought the only option was murder if found guilty on the kidnapping and I doubted she'd be found guilty on murder.

I don't think we were clear on the charges until the judge's very helpful list (well I wasn't).

Quite knocked back by the speed of the verdicts. I think they have to deliberate for 2 hours minimum, and it took 4 days on Tabak, but "obviously" there was no doubt in the jury's mind.

From my sofa in front of the fire the verdicts given are spot on, absolutely correct.

As SH pleaded not guilty to all charges I expect the judge to come down hard on her with sentencing.

Don't know about all of you here, but my stomach turned when I saw the jury was back so fast and I'm still a bit in shock (and rambling now :blushing:).

BIB Oh very good point , I certainly hope so. All her lies about having no interest in or connection with anything - including all the videos on their * shared * pc. I so bet she wishes they had not gone with the story about sharing phones as well...

Perhaps this explains the comment about listening to children if they are scared:

http://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/...auna-hoare-becky-watts-dark-fantasies-reality

I hate that quoting a quote from a paper doesn't show up! LOL So when NM was 20, he inappropriately touched an 8-year-old BW. And when he was 21, he found a 14-year-old whose caregivers/family thought it was just fine to let them date, stay overnight and eventually live together by the time she was 15. He must have thought he struck gold. :banghead: :furious:

I did wonder whether NMs sentence will reflect the fact he disclosed where Beckys body was

Finally a Verdict has been reached. Becky's family and friends can close this chapter in their lives.
As for AG & DG. I think there's gonna be alot of soul searching. But those dark distressing images and memories. Will never abate.
Will AG stay in contact with NM?
I really don't know. A Mothers love is unconditional. But knowing the extent of NM'S depravity. Which will most certainly come out in the Media. And her husband DG. Being Becky's father. Will she Ever go to see him. It's a terrible case. One that will be notorious in British history. Along with Myra and Ian. N Fred n Rose.
She may just keep in contact thru letters. That way DG can keep an eye on AG. As she's looking so frail now. That way if NM tries to play to try win back his Mom's heart.

All moo of course.

It is hard to conceive but then so is all the other stuff that happened in this case. I have never been in any doubt that SH was a liar, lied about everything, and was involved from the start.

Legal, will the reporting restrictions in place during the trial be lifted now do you know?

Imagine if he got less than her, after the apparent plan for him to absolve her of all blame :)

ITV reporter has tweeted the mugshots

Crazy maybe but if I'd seen that mugshot of SHAUNA HOARE I would have had NO doubt or trouble in finding her guilty. It is a really nice feeling knowing that we all felt the same way about them both, theories may have been slightly different but our main instincts were spot on. AND with DD & JI, I hope they can move on from this, learn and live a good life! Thanks to all who have posted the updates for us, really appreciated it! Let's hope the Judge doesn't let us down in sentencing!

NM has the sexual assault and voyeurism charges still to come too, maybe next year?

no way. he only did it after they'd found his finger prints in Becky's blood.

he forced a trial, neither of them have shown remorse or regret, throw away the keys.

We never did hear any more about SH ringing the children in care team did we. I wonder was she going to repeat the cycle and put the little girl into care?

Maybe she already is in care. Or with Grandmother. But that doesn't seem likely to me idkw. ..

I doubt they'll bother. he won't see daylight again in this lifetime.

OMG!!. I had a lot of housework to catch up on, figured I'd have time now to crack on with some! Verdict so fast! Wow, I won't lie I'm stunned. Relieved but stunned. I need to catch up and collect my thoughts! I'm shaking!!!

Apparently it was taken by some friends during his army days - laddy stuff. The way the DM have put it into the article though, they're trying to imply it is 'proof' of his sexual deviance :shame:

There was a Facebook 'Thing' going round iirc. A bit like the 'ice bucket challenge' where it was to get yr dads/partners/brothers/sons to dress up as a 'lady' for a Charity event. People would then post those pics of themselves. And donate to Charity......

Now that the verdicts are in and there is some form of justice for Becky, I am beginning to feel sorry for the children than MN and SH were. I'm not excusing them for what they did, or saying I feel sorry for them now, because I don't. There is no excuse and nobody else to blame. I mean, if we had heard about them when they were little children and knew the situation they were in, I think we would all be very sad for them.

What 7 year old boy being given to his grandmother to look after, then seeing his own mother take on someone else's children (who call her 'mum') isn't going to have some kind of issues.

And what young girl, shifted from foster home to foster home, isn't going to be affected by her mother having more children who stay with her? What 14 girl isn't going to have some issues when her own mother, rather than guide and protects her, encourages a sexual relationship with a full grown man. Encourages an illegal sexual relationship?

I think there will be - and should be - a lot of soul searching.

That is a conundrum certainly.

I, as I'm sure many here, know people who have had the most abysmal upbringing including mental, physical and sexual abuse. Yet they have overcome the difficulties because of an innate sense of determination, of wanting to escape the past and have a 'normal' family life in adulthood.

One's early life and upbringing always leaves scars that never heal, so why is it that sometimes things like this happen?
Vincent Tabak had a normal, middle class upbringing, intelligent guy, good job - look what happened there.

Is it nurture or nature ?? Big question.
It shows a magnanimous spirit to feel that the evil actions of people are a product of their unloved childhood. They would have become decent contributing members of society if only ......

I tend to the belief that it is nature, not nurture, that is to blame but I really have no answer, nor understanding.

Ah, you just reminded me. When DS Mike Courtier made his statement today, he talked about finding Becky's body in the shed. He said that by the time NM admitted where Becky was, that they ( the police ) were already close and he was sure they would have found her within the next few hours.

Which leads me to wonder - was there a tip off, apart from NMs confession ?

If the sexual assault and voyeurism charges involve a victim who wants justice, I think the prosecutor will pursue the charges.

I remember that being reported in the trial, but I didn't know before the bit about SH sharing content with him.
Yes, when you read that and remember back to her '*****ing' about BW in her first police interviews I'd say SH wound NM up like a spring, constant jealous nagging and moaning and maybe even HER encouraging him to 'sort it'. Would explain also his upset at her name being mentioned in interview. Maybe he feels like he did it all for SH and only cos she kept telling him to sort it! ALL MY OWN THEORIES & POSSIBILITIES!

Heartbreaking. Epecially with DG saying he had loved NM as his own son. And losing 4 stone in weight :(

Truly heart breaking just wanted to hug Darren and make it all better I so wish these two all the love and happiness they deserve their love must be so strong and I think they have proved that what a great family they all are :(
