Human skeletal remains found near retail park in Stoke-on-Trent, police say

Police have cordoned off an area of the park but have not yet formally identified the remains.

A member of the public has discovered skeletal remains in Stoke-on-Trent, police have said.

Police were called to reports of the discovery on land near to Festival Park, Etruria, on Sunday afternoon.


Staffordshire Police said: "At this time the remains have not been identified.

The death is currently being treated as unexplained. In an update issued to StokeonTrentLive today (March 13), a Staffordshire Police spokesman said: "Forensic tests are ongoing."

Remains of man's body found in Stoke-on-Trent identified

Police say Darren Green's remains were found near Festival Park earlier this month.

The remains of a human skeleton discovered in a park have been identified as a missing man.

Staffordshire Police said Darren Green, 42, from Stoke-on-Trent, was reported missing on 16 July last year.

Emergency services were called to Festival Park in Etruria, in the city, at 15:30 on 2 March after the discovery of a skeleton in the area.

The death is not being treated as suspicious, officers said, and added that they were supporting his family.
