My reservations are how are body parts returned days later if a fox has scavenged especially as they are reported as looking fresh and perhaps stored in a freezer.
Why have other vets ruled out natural animal scavenging in some of the reports mentioned by both South London Animal Investigation Network and South Norwood Animal Rescue and Liberty.
Reports of collars being hidden under flower pots and other places which would be impossible for a fox
I personally have a microchip reader and have been to incidents in other areas where cats are without heads so hard to chip check.
Unfortunately foxes will find RTA cats and scavenge the remains or on some rarer occasions kill cats and it looks psychopathic.
Tails and other parts missing and without going into further details it looks like the work of a serial killer especially when left on an owner's driveway or garden.
With this in mind I do believe people get hysterical and create a moral panic on social media before a cat has even been to the vets as I have seen it happen.
However I do believe that a human is also dismembering cats and that there is a pattern with ruled in cases
For example if you look at cases outside of Croydon area in Portsmouth and Southampton it is very often during holiday periods.
CCTV is always dodged which makes me think with the human related cases of cats being mutilated the perpetrator has a good understanding of security cameras and CCTV
