what I dont understand was in earlier testimony the school said he hadnt been at school for a long while but i think went back after the murder. We are around 20 miles from Peterborough so to have a taxi back and forwards every day would have cost quite a lot. The school would have known he was in care so didnt it ever occur to them to call the home to see why he wasnt in school so much?

well the other thing....to be honest its hard to remember some of the testimony as its gone on so long but I am going to read it tonight but the defence said that it wasnt there that night at allegedly so by then James had come back to March well ok but as Rikki wasnt found until gone 12 was he in school the day after the murder? because if not he could have moved Rikki before he was found.

Just going through testimonies again and I noticed this...surely this is wrong?
Later, the jury heard from PC Malcolm Graham, who was the first officer to find Rikki's body on the morning he had been reported missing.

Giving evidence in a grey suit and light blue shirt, he said he continued to serve with the Cambridge Constabulary as a police officer until 2019.

He was part of the team of officers who searched for missing Rikki, combing through the wood where his body was eventually found as part of that effort.

'I recall there were approximately 10 officers on the team and searching.

'We lined out...we were about 10 yards apart.

'We started to walk from east to west.'

The now retired officer confirmed that the photos shared of Rikki's body in court accurately showed how he found the six-year-old's body that day - 'naked, lying on its back and spread eagled'.

The body was tkane to the mortuary and the officer went with Rikki's father, Trevor Harvey, to formally identify the body the next day, the court heard.

He said he spotted Rikki's legs around five minutes after the search began.

Ok so...looking at this assuming he should have been at school the day after Rikki was killed I am not sure how Watsons lawyer thinks he is cleared
David Benjamin, who was head of house at Walton school in Peterborough, said Watson did not attend on November 28 1994, the day Rikki disappeared.

On November 30 1994, he returned for his first full day in school “for ages”, the witness said.

That afternoon, he allegedly went out to get the local evening paper featuring Rikki on the front page.


Watson then showed him one of six copies of the front page he had made, saying they were to display in the children’s home where he was staying in nearby March, Cambridgeshire, jurors heard.

Mr Price asked: “Were further copies of the document made by James?”

So going through all this again....the brother was 14 years older and met Dean Neave in Jail...and said he had been around Ruths around 8 times and had taken his brother and sister there also. Unless Rikki was out its not likely he hadnt met him before. The other question I have is Watson rang his mother two days before hand and asked her about the supposed radio report about the two year old being found murdered at Paston and found near the ditch. Didnt she ever think this was odd or that it seriously implicated her son? and that she was potentially protecting someone who had killed a young child? Also given this call was two days before hand did he always intend to kill a child? specifically Rikki or any child? ( sorry for asking so many questions just things that have come up going through all the testimonies. Also the 90 year old said she said knew Jamie Watson as his dad did her patio for her which is a bit weird with what came out today about him.

One thing I would say about this "bespoke" clothing catalogue it was named the other day as a Littlewoods catalogue and any British person here would know that basically wasnt a bespoke clothing catalogue at all and especially not one for young kids. Yes they sold kids clothes but they also sold adults clothes...settees beds tvs, all electrical items...and really all household items and garden items...sun loungers...everything tbh

In a search of his room, she found catalogue magazines under his bed, the witness said.

Ms Larkin said: “They were magazines that were related to children and toddlers, babies, in clothing. Underwear mostly.”

Asked why she thought they were there, she said: “I felt that there were further questions to be answered because of the type of material that was there and on previous occasions James had been overheard, and I believe overtly, masturbating, self-pleasuring.”

I know sometimes you would get like sales leaflets etc but ugh

I have been thinking this morning and I hope this doesnt come out the wrong way as I seriously dont mean it too. I have wanted justice for Rikki and his family for so long. Most of his family come from my town...and later on I lived at Welland at Peterborough for a while and I STILL obviously want that just as much BUT...and I do not condone his actions in ANY WAY...but i also cant help feel he was failed/a victim in a way. I imagine on a Estate like Welland having a cop for a dad would make it hard for a kid and then when they are sent to prison for doing wrong even more so. We also know that his older brother was sent to prison which is where he met Dean Neave. At 13...he had been in foster care and also in a childrens home twenty miles from home. He couldnt go to his mothers...although he was only just 13 due to her partner for whatever reason so I guess there were issues there too....someone said earlier on the thread...and then we hear about his room...and again nothing seems to been done or at least it hasnt been said it has...he didnt go to school for ages and no one even seemed to notice. He needed a parent/role model....someone to notice he had serious problems but there doesnt seem to have been anyone.

PLEASE do not think I am excusing his behaviour in ANY way as I seriously am not

The case doesnt make sense full stop to me ...i thought he was in the home here because his dad the cop was in prison?
Earlier, Mr Price asked Watson about his intentions when he decided to play truant and walk to the Welland Estate the morning Rikki went missing.

He said his intention was to visit his father who lived on the estate.

But his father never got a visit from him that day, jurors heard.

‘Why wouldn’t you visit him?’ Mr Price asked.

‘I would often go with the intention of visiting my dad but not go,’ Watson replied.

‘I don’t think it’s relevant but...because it takes me to a place I would rather not go.

actually makes me wonder why his dad was in prison for?

He was 13 when he was here at March childrens home but he had a foster mother before that so...twelve/thirteen. I am beginning to have a lot of questions about all this tbh..with that and given that he couldnt live with his mother because he wasnt allowed to live with her partner and that he was classed as a vulnerable child. It seemed like he wanted a relationship with his dad but was scared of him for some reason. It COULD be true when he said that Rikki was his mates brother given that Rikkis sister was also in a childrens home at the same time from evidence in court. I just wonder if she was also in the March care home also . She would been younger than him but living on the same estate and knowing same people and actually if he had been to hers before like the brother said they would have known each other anyhow. I am also curious if James shared the taxi from March to Peterborough with any other kids from the home
