Circumstances of Disappearance:
Adaway was last seen in Thurso, Caithness, on Wednesday, June 9, 1982 - his 18th birthday. His mother saw him at home at 44 Princes Street early on that day, and he was seen several times in Thurso by friends and relatives. There were further possible but unconfirmed sightings over the next few days at various places across the Caithness area, many near roads which could mean he was hitch-hiking. Adaway was asthmatic and left home without his inhaler.
Northern Constabulary searched in and around the Thurso area, including the coastline and quarries. Road, rail and sea routes in Caithness were also checked but Adaway has never been found.
