GUILTY UK - Rolf Harris for molesting underage girls, child 🤬🤬🤬🤬, 2013

  • #161
IIRC, what Dawkins actually said was that raising a child to fear hell could be more damaging than "mild" sexual abuse (however he defines that). I think he's full of crap, but I don't believe his comments are particularly relevant to this case.

  • #162
Truly appalling.

I note his accuser still has her anonymity. "Oh mummy, you don't want to know"...please. :banghead:

His accuser is, as I understand it, still a child, and thus would not be named under any circumstances. I do believe she has been damaged in some way. I hope the actual source of that damage is dealt with, and that she gets the help she needs.

There is no doubt these "accusers" are damaged, otherwise they wouldn't fabricate.

In the case of RH's accuser, the one we got to see on ACA and in our magazines, she is clearly a victim at some level.

BUT. Is she a victim of RH?

Was the girl in MLV's trial a victim of HIM? The court says no.

Jim Davidson, another who was arrested, smeared, opined about - then LE dropped the charges!!!!

The British Media have a lot to answer for.

🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬 aren't selling papers anymore, so they have to go with "Headlines" - preferably sex related, preferably someone famous, even better if they previously had a sterling reputation.

For a country that still clings to its outdated and quite farcical Libel laws, this is a massive contradiction. It seems you can say anything about anybody, as long as you print it up and sell it at a newsagency.

Its not really a contradiction because the libel laws have only ever worked for those rich enough to hire the likes of Carter-Ruck. Everybody else gets libelled any time the tabloids find it profitable to smear them.

LeVell probably is rich enough to sue for libel, so they'll have to rein in their smear campaign now.

They won't reign it in, they'll just find another victim.

I'm reminded of the Joanna Yates murder, where LE arrested and charged a neighbour for killing her, then leaked it to the press.

A week or so later, the charges were dropped, but not before the innocent neighbour had his reputation ruined, his home vandalised, spent x days in custody, and featured on the front page of every rag. Life thoroughly ruined.

It was a different neighbour who killed her - oops sorry about that.

Just because LE has arrested and charged, doesn't mean guilt.

Remember Colin Stagg? They carried on a hate campaign against him for years, even after the judge had thrown out the case and publically rebuked the police for their behaviour. Stagg could barely leave his house, and even in his house he was bombarded with hate mail, death threats, dog poo through his letterbox, etc.

That's what happens to people who aren't rich enough to sue for libel.

It's a difficult situation all round, just as a topic of discussion, IMO. Celebrity pedos DO exist, as Jimmy Savile and Gary Glitter so vehemently demonstrate. And Aussies - let's not forget that fellow from 'Hey Dad'..

Showbiz is a general cesspool of exploitation and cover-ups on so many levels, knowing what I know about Disney kids, Savile, even Aussie TV. I'd be so paranoid if my own child was in acting..

But then, how many celebrities are falsely accused of one thing or another, or trivially sued every year. I think the present British mass investigations have become somewhat alarming, but the police are obliged to follow up on every complaint, and are under a lot of pressure as well.

In this atmosphere, a lot of dirty washing will get aired, and that's brilliant. But so will a few nutters' personal agendas, with the potential to smear an innocent man's name irrevocably.

I wonder if all those galleries and such will be re-hanging Rolf's paintings, if he's innocent? Or whether his piccie of the Queen will magically re-appear...

Just thinking out loud, on the general difficulties with a case like this.

Actually, looking at the Queen's portrait situation, I really have to wonder what info Buckingham Palace is privy to that the public are not. It seems a very profound act of distancing - but this could also be in the wake of Savile and the problem of people with OBE's already proven guilty..

If Rolf's not guilty, then 'losing' the portrait pre-trial might prove to be an embarrassing move, rather than a smart one.

Rolf Harris to get his day in court tomorrow on child sex allegations

AAP
SEPTEMBER 22, 2013 11:14AM

ROLF Harris is to front court tomorrow for the first time after being charged with 13 child sex offences.

Harris's first court appearance comes as it was revealed on Sunday his artwork has been removed from galleries on board luxury ocean liners including the Queen Mary 2.

A spokesman for cruise giant Cunard told British tabloid the Daily Mail: "When allegations regarding Rolf Harris first came to light some time ago we felt it was appropriate to remove his pictures from display in the art galleries on board."

A mother watching the news..

Jesus... Watching the abc news with my daughter and they bring up Rolf Harris.... Forced to change channels... #****wit

Why do MSM report this on the nightly news in so much as it is graphic and scary? Ratings.

If it goes to trial, he will be judged by a jury of his peers.

In Australia, the 7pm project tweeted that whatever you do Rolf, don't take your wobble board to court.

Does anyone know if he wrote the lyrics to the songs of 70's hits?

Tie me kangaroo down sport may have been a racial slur to the Aboriginal population. He is famous for his racial comments against them.

An Australian media personality has been flown to report on RH. It would be in business class. Nice job if you can get it. Why does anyone pay for anyone to report 'if convicted' jail for Rolf.

ROLF Harris is facing three further prosecutions for sexual assault including one against girl "aged seven or eight", prosecutors have said.

WOW!!

This is like Jimmy Saville all over again, except this time the accused is alive to face the charges .. I feel sad that the story of Rolf as I thought it was has this chapter in it, however if he's been preying on girls for as long as the charges indicate then I'm glad the truth caught up with him and he didn't get away with it. Time will tell.

  • #176
I'm always (for want of a better word) happier when they are charged with taking indecent photos because at least there is solid evidence of a crime taking place rather tham he said she said. As what happened with Jimmy Saville, many of the victims were said to be supposedly jumping on the bandwagon. At least this way he cant use that excuse and wriggle out of it. You'd have thought anyway

People will say that with Rolf too no doubt, but I think with this many charges there is no need to doubt these girls ..

  • #178
I'm waiting to see what the English charges reveal, and what the girl over there says. Since i think the Aussie quotient is full of it. IMO.

If Mr Harris wasn't a billionaire I might leap to judgement too.

Coming at the time they did, on the heels of the Savile mess, is a bit too cute for me. They are vague charges too, no allegations of rape or other sexual activity...a grope in a hallway 30 years ago?

Please...

Why hasn't Rolf ever been charged or investigated by Australian authorities?

  • #180
Well I believe he has also been charged with making indecent images of children - not so easy to fabricate evidence for that charge. Hence my earlier comment.

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...s-indecent-assault-indecent-images-child.html

Why hasn't he been charged/I vestifates by Australian police? Why wasn't Jimmy Saville or Ian Watkins? Police were well aware of their "indiscretions" yet did nothing at the time
