It's a difficult situation all round, just as a topic of discussion, IMO. Celebrity pedos DO exist, as Jimmy Savile and Gary Glitter so vehemently demonstrate. And Aussies - let's not forget that fellow from 'Hey Dad'..
Showbiz is a general cesspool of exploitation and cover-ups on so many levels, knowing what I know about Disney kids, Savile, even Aussie TV. I'd be so paranoid if my own child was in acting..
But then, how many celebrities are falsely accused of one thing or another, or trivially sued every year. I think the present British mass investigations have become somewhat alarming, but the police are obliged to follow up on every complaint, and are under a lot of pressure as well.
In this atmosphere, a lot of dirty washing will get aired, and that's brilliant. But so will a few nutters' personal agendas, with the potential to smear an innocent man's name irrevocably.
I wonder if all those galleries and such will be re-hanging Rolf's paintings, if he's innocent? Or whether his piccie of the Queen will magically re-appear...
Just thinking out loud, on the general difficulties with a case like this.
Actually, looking at the Queen's portrait situation, I really have to wonder what info Buckingham Palace is privy to that the public are not. It seems a very profound act of distancing - but this could also be in the wake of Savile and the problem of people with OBE's already proven guilty..
If Rolf's not guilty, then 'losing' the portrait pre-trial might prove to be an embarrassing move, rather than a smart one.
