Yep. Not impossible but seems wildly impractical and would probably take a long time to incapacitate someone with it, unless it’s frozen or something.

I think the source may have been describing the relative shape and size and in true Mail fashion they’ve run with it as a “omg drinks can” headline because they’ve little else to add to their earlier content.

“A police source said officers believed the red item was an ‘object like a drinks can’.”

The word ‘like’ is doing a lot of heavy lifting.

I would not trust the Daily Mail as the reporting is so badly worded at times. The one thing is it is a metal object. As we can rule out knives the best we can say is it is rounded and heavy enough to kill a person. I just cannot see a can of cola filled with rocks being used

East Sussex is a relatively large area. The Northern tip of East Sussex is around a 35 mile drive from Kidbrooke

Man, 38, arrested on suspicion of murdering school teacher Sabina Nessa

Detective Chief Inspector Neil John, from the Met Police’s Specialist Crime Command, said: “Sabina’s family have been informed of this significant development and they continue to be supported by specialist officers.”

It comes as cops investigating Sabina Nessa's killing carried out fingertip searches of a building site yesterday as they hunt for a murder weapon.

Officers were seen probing the site close to the spot where the 28-year-old primary school teacher's body was found in Kidbrooke, South East London.

Sabina was killed as she walked through Cator Park to meet a pal for a first date on Friday, September 17.

A worker told The Telegraph the building site being searched was a “warren of open drains, piping and stacked up building materials.

In terms of previous arrests a man in his early 40s was arrested last Saturday and a man aged 38 was arrested at an address in Lewisham on Thursday then released pending further investigation. Latest arrest COULD be the same 38 yr old I suppose though neither of these two earlier arrests were the guy in the video as I understand it. Do you would assume that this is a third separate individual and, most likely, the guy in the video

I would guess this is a third guy and the one in the CCTV

Man arrested in Sabina Nessa murder investigation

I think the term "significant development" hopefully means its cctv man

Scanning social media it appears the police managed to execute the arrest without being spotted by members of the public. When Wayne Cousens was arrested in the Everard case there were numerous eye witness reports from his neighbours.

Popped over from the Daily Fail - A drinks Can? Really? I suppose it's not impossible, but even still...
The latest arrest sounds significant & I really hope this is it and they have the person responsible.

Can the picture of him not be enhanced any better by the Met?

What I see:

Balding but with a tuft in front, and not bare headed bald
Beard looks slightly reddish, but could be the lighting
Black barn jacket/shacket type shirt over another shirt with a collar, worn open with a black tee shirt
What's on his pants leg? Is it paint/plastering material? Some type of logo or patch?
What type shoes? I want to see his shoes because they can tell you a lot.
MrsWatson
What could shoes tell you? Cctv man's look like a soft trainer type shoe to me

The way I see it we've got either three - namely [A], [ B ], [C] - or four men - [A], [ B ], [C] and a separate one which is the one shown acting suspiciously by the CCTV footage.

[A] aged 40 and from Lewisham (someone known to her, according to previous reports) was arrested on suspicion of murder then released pending further investigations. The following two, [ B ]and [C], both aged 38 are definitely not one and the same person, as [ B ] was - also - arrested on suspicion of murder at an address in Lewisham then released pending investigation whilst [C] that they currently have in custody was arrested for the same thing but at an address in East Sussex. We also know - from the Met - that neither [A] nor [ B ] are the individual spotted in the CCTV footage that they have previously released.

However, they haven't as of yet said whether or not [C] is the one shown by that recording so we can't rule that out. This latest arrest is being treated as a significant development in their investigation which has indeed come 48-hours after their initial appeal for help finding that person. Therefore, there's a high chance of [C] being the CCTV guy but we'll have to keep an eye out for any other renewed appeals, as that would mean he is not and would take the suspect count back to four.

I think it's highly significant that police are no longer searching for cctv man ( see post 575 news link )

Thanks Alyce, would you take that to mean no longer searching for him because they now have him in custody or because he is no longer relevant to this investigation? Either way, that would mean there are three individuals that have been linked to this and arrested thus far.

My best guess is that they now have him in custody. There was an article posted about 1am this morning on here ( will try and re find the link ) which seemed to indicate that police had identified cctv man. If that was accurate, then it would follow that he has now been arrested.
