A Brighton Snapper has tweeted about ongoing police activity on a street in East Sussex (involving quite a few police cars) but not yet clear if it’s linked to Sabina. He also mentioned that Jody Doherty-Cove at The Argus would be providing an update soon so will keep an eye out for that.

Not sure how much faith I have in this new 'significant development', and this third arrest won't transpire to be another released in the next 24 hours...

The police was appealing for information from people in London and Kent. The fact that the person was arrested in East Sussex fits in with that. Maybe they tracked the silver car travelling in that general direction.

It also crossed my mind, whether he was trying to leave the country by sea from that area. However he had time to do so in the days following the attack, and didn‘t.

The other CCTV footage (not released) is very relevant IMO. Maybe it is not possible to identify any characteristics from it but the police matched the attire and timings of the person to the CCTV images that were released. They may also have other reasons not to release it.

Well if it turns out to be near Newhaven, in East Sussex, you may not be wrong about trying to leave the country. It sounds to me though as if he had headed to East Sussex to stay with somebody and hide out.

As well as having him on CCTV, the police also showed the still of the silver car. I’d expect they had many other cameras that would have caught the car on ANPR so you’d think they’d have the registration number.
Makes me wonder if they knew who he was before they released the CCTV (to try and find more witnesses) and had him under surveillance. Or he just couldn’t be located at his usual residence. The info the Daily Mail published saying police knew who he was was risky, given if he saw it he might have tried to flee (unless it was a leak). Guess these days with all the CCTV and ANPR it’s hard to evade capture!

I have Covid19, feeling rough and limited energy for sleuthing this week so not read this thread yet (I will) but been keeping up generally.

I saw an article about CCTV of the man looking as though he was putting something red/orange reflective up his sleeve - has this been discussed here? - I took screenshots - could this be a blood stained hand he's pulling inside his sleeve rather than an 'item'?

The red item has been discussed and ideas brainstormed. The mail stated it was like a coke can ,which stimulated further discussion.
we have not been informed what it is, the police were searching a local building site ,so might have found it.

The comment about police knowing his identity came very shortly before his arrest so I imagine police had him under surveillance.

I don't know, I feel this one is different and will lead to a charge.
Fingers crossed anyway!

Do we know what area in East Sussex the arrest was made? I am in Hastings and previously lived in Eastbourne.

I'm so stuck on the motivation. Completely random attacks do occur of course, but imo that would usually tie in with mugging, a fight, or sexual assault.

The fact that he attacked her shortly after she left her home, could suggest premeditation to me. Lying in wait for her to leave the home. This would indicate they knew each other, or he was a stalker. I'd be interested to know her movements earlier in the day. Could she have been chatting to a stranger and mentioned she was excited to head out for a date later?

If premeditated, it seems unusual to use a can of drink (or something similar) for a weapon. Although easily disposed of, it's an unusual choice, and could give unreliable results. The carrying of her body into a park and covering with leaves is also strange to me. So many unknowns.

I agree. The police say they are not looking for cctv man any more .I think cctv man is the same person who was also seen on cctv attacking Sabina.

The soda can weapon is not unheard of:

Daytona Beach police believe suspect used frozen can of coke as weapon

But this would suggest a perp who has some experience of violence in possibly a professional/quasi professional way.

Average Joe doesn’t use frozen soda and a jacket sleeve as a murder set-up, but thugs who work in gangs and organised crime definitely do.

It's not linked, sadly. Article just posted up on the Argus and tweeted by Jody Doherty-Cove.

"A MAN has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a woman was stabbed.

Emergency services were called to Baden Road, Brighton, at about 7.35am this morning.

The victim, a 41-year-old woman, had suffered a stab wound and was taken to hospital by ambulance".

My first ever post. I have read all 31 pages of text here and it is very interesting and somewhat spooky esp. the CCTV of the suspect with the red/orange object. That video can give anyone nightmares.

My two cents: I think many people seem to be convinced that bald man with red object is the killer. I am not too sure of it. I mean it is highly likely but at the end of the day it is just a CCTV of a man that has piqued the interest of the police. Sure he was acting odd in that footage but there could be multiple reasons for it.

The more I read about it the more I feel this is not an attack by random stranger. The perpetrator must have know Sabina to a degree, if not intimately than from a distance. He may have wanted to confront her about something and things just escalated beyond what he initially planned.

From the pictures the park looks like mowed grass than with bushes with dense trees so the fact she was found covered in leaves show some emotional conflict from the perpetrators.

Also, is it confirmed that she left her apartment to go to the pub. Perhaps, she was coming to the pub from some other place?
