Students here are not allowed to carry their inhalers, either, which makes no sense. The purpose of a rescue inhaler is to have it on hand immediately when you need it. Not have to walk to the nurse's office when you already can't breathe to get one.

After school mode? You are a teacher always, especially when you are in the building. And I don't care if you are a teacher or a janitor, if a kid is struggling for breath, you get the kid some help.

My son is in fourth grade and he is allowed to keep his inhaler with him at school. I didn't even have to ask, the nurse let me know when I took it to her office. I just had to sign a form that listed the brand and dosage.
Are these policies made by individual districts or do state laws vary or does our school care more about it's kids ?

Some teachers are psychopaths or have personality disorders who really don't need to even be around children. I guess it's a risk we take by sending our kids to some (usually) really old building with many different basically total adult strangers. Then the school districts usually have a bunch of old geezer snooty men running the show and counting the federal dollars that our kids bring in. I won't even ask if the person in this story will be charged with manslaughter because I know she won't in this country or the country she's in. I'm suprised that things like this don't happen a lot, but if they don't it's because the parents are having to fight tooth and nail for their kids' rights and safety.

has to be individual school making the rules.

but not sure what school or school district thinks that leaving a kid to die is ok.....

If that was my child.................I would be in Jail :furious::furious:

WTF was wrong with that Teacher! When my kids were in school they always had change in their pocket in case they needed me. One time my daughter had such pains in her legs, they were aware of her problem from her DR.She was in tears from pain her she went to the nurse.Nurse took her temp said she was fine told her to go back to class. My daughter went to the pay phone and called me told me what happened.I was at the school in 10 minutes I took my daughter home signed her out. Then called the Principle and the nurse.
Both my kids were taught to respect but that they were people too.My generation we were taught ALWAYS listen to Adults.I taught mine to Respect Adults but to a point after all most abuser are adults JMO
For those that say OH MY............She graduated with Honors From Seton Hall.Bought her own home, has a great job and is a sweetheart.
