The bbc have just uploaded this case onto iPlayer
Here is the link if anyone wants to watch it.

That's a good series. I've watched a few of them.

If years of sustained torture isn't sadistic I don't know what is.

The only real justice would be for US and BB to be subjected to exactly the same treatment as they inflicted on Sara.
This case has broken me. Batool calling Sharif home as Sara lay limp and vomitting, knowing how violent that exact scenario made him many times before. I struggle to agree with the judge that there was no murderous intent. And Malik getting out I a few years time, having his own kids, one of whom might be a spirited girl. What are the chances he would raise one tenderly?

I'm in no doubt the father got pleasure from it. Why else would he do it? This was not down to loss of temper, and there was no genuine cause for punishment. It's the only explanation.
How is molestation or sexual violence so confidently ruled out when Batool sought a molestation order against Sharif? This monster stops at nothing. Fair but strangely unsatisfying verdicts for these three. Especially as not a shred of remorse shown.

I most probably read about the molestation order in comments but can't recall. Is there an article you can link please .

Nothing would surprise me with urfan . I always felt the position of the bites was weird. I would imagine Sara's post mortem was meticulously done . And sexual abuse was ruled out

One thought that I did have though is did urfan force both women ,olga and bienash to bite Sara . Although not unusual in itself for abusers to bite but for both women to do it at different times . In my mind that is unusual. It seems the common denominator is urfan and I wondered what role he played in that

A non-molestation order is not related to sexual offences. It's basically an injunction to prevent someone from threatening or harassing you.

Many of us speculated, when this news first broke, that Sara was a scapegoated child and that was clearly evident in the judge's sentencing remarks. The judge being privvy to information that was seen by the jury but not reported in the press.

<modsnip: Random videos not allowed>

Being the eldest daughter (especially one who was not related to the "mother" of the family") and being the type of person who dared to challenge her parents when they did something wrong (sometimes referred to as being the "truthteller") made Sara a typical scapegoat. This was backed up by the fact that none of the other children faced the same treatment as Sara, and the other children (including her older brother) were growing up in a family dynamic where they also used Sara as a scapegoat and treated her as inferior.

I don't think Malik is mentally the same as his brother and the age difference meant they didn't really grow up together as such (Urfan moved to the UK over twenty years ago). His family in Pakistan also seems more liberal than Batool's family in the UK. The Judge made a reference to the fact that none of the women in Urfan's family wear the hijab, for example.

Malik's guilt comes from his failure to do anything. Cowardice.

BBM
For reasons beyond our comprehension? Maybe in psycho-behavioural terms there is something between violence for personal pleasure and violence due to loss of temper? Maybe sadistic pleasure would involve enjoying the pain Sara was in as opposed to merely enjoying inflicting pain on Sara. There is a slight difference altho I feel disgusted even writing about it. In legal terms and in psycho-behavioural, something like that may make a difference.

MOO IANAL nor am I psychiatrist, psychologist etc.

One of the things I have noticed is how little emotion Malik has shown. He looked completely relaxed when they arrested him and questioned him. He was not reported as shedding any tears during any point in the trial. In fact, the verdicts were the first and only time he was and that was obviously for himself. He sat through the entire sentencing yesterday showing no emotion either. I honestly don't know how he sat through all that harrowing evidence about what those two monsters did and couldn't even shed a tear.

And that makes me suspect that the reason why he didn't try and help Sara or do anything to stop his brother and Batool wasn't just that he's a coward but because he simply didn't care. I am glad the judge gave him a high sentence. He's despicable.

"Woking MP Will Forster told MPs:

'I know the Prime Minister is aware of the case of my constituent Sara Sharif,
who was brutally tortured and appallingly murdered by her father and her stepmother.

I want Sara's legacy
to be one where she is the last vulnerable child to be killed by people that should have looked after her'."
