Personally I hope they will not be allowed to spend more £m of taxpayers money on lawyers and court time etc.

The authorities are presumably still engaged pursuing the long term situation of the (British Citizen) children still in Pakistan.

The father of Sara Sharif should have been given a whole life order for his daughter's murder, the Court of Appeal has been told.

Urfan Sharif, 43, and Sara's stepmother Beinash Batool, 30, were jailed for life in December, with minimum terms of 40 and 33 years respectively, after being found guilty of the 10-year-old's murder.

Sara's uncle, Faisal Malik, 29, was found guilty of causing or allowing her death and was jailed for 16 years.
All three are seeking leave to appeal their sentences, but the Solicitor General wants Sharif's sentence increased.

At a hearing to consider all aspects of the sentences, Tom Little KC, for the Solicitor General, said Sara's murder was a rare case of such "exceptionally high seriousness" that it warranted a whole life order for Sharif.

Judges at the Court of Appeal are hearing the application on behalf of Lucy Rigby KC MP, who said Sharif's sentence of a minimum of 40 years was "unduly lenient".

It pleases me no end when an absolute beast (or pair of beasts) attempt to lessen their sentence and they appeal courts slap them with longer!! G'wan do it!!

On Thursday, all three brought bids to challenge their sentences at the Court of Appeal - which were rejected.

But a plea by the Solicitor General to have Sharif's term behind bars upped to a whole-lift order was also declined by Lady Chief Justice Baroness Carr, who said such a punishment was a 'last resort'.

Dismissing Sharif's appeal, Baroness Carr said: 'We can see no arguable basis to challenge the conclusion of the trial judge. 'We are not persuaded that anything less than a whole life order was unduly lenient.'
Sitting with Mr Justice Soole and Mr Justice Goose, Baroness Carr added: 'The court should give very great weight to the assessment of the trial judge... He was in the very best position to make the assessment that he did.'

Earlier in the hearing, Tom Little KC, for the Solicitor General, said Sara's murder was a rare case of such 'exceptionally high seriousness' that it warranted a whole life order for Sharif.

English is not my first language, but "after being caged for 16 years" = "having been caged for 16 years", meaning, he served sixteen years already.

Caged ≠ sentenced. Caged means "living in a cage", i.e., behind bars, or trapped in any way of form. One probably can say "after being sentenced to 16 yeas of encagement", if people insist on using the word.

Faisal barely spent a year behind bars.

The fact is that all English prisons are going to offer training courses so that the prisoners have more chance of getting a job when they are released and some means of keeping the inmates occupied whilst they are there.

All those social workers, teachers and people in authority who made reports of the abuse within this household even before darling Sara was even born..
Her step sibling had the lucky escape being taken into foster care.
What a horrific short life she must have had yet she was still occasionally able to smile for photos. My heart aches
