Judges sentencing remarks are very detailed to deter grounds for appeal, Hence the repeated references to the fact that he had avoided ‘double counting’ etc. and went into detail about mitigating factors that he took into account. I very much doubt there will be permission to appeal, let alone success.

Looking at the sentences, Urfan Sharif is lucky he didn’t get longer. But it’s very likely he will never be released. Getting parole is not just about admitting responsibility and expressing remorse. He is also going to need to attend courses in prison such as anger management. He is going to need to demonstrate to a parole board that he has changed. He is going to need to show them from his record in prison that he is no longer violent. He is going to have to explain what was wrong with his behaviour and how he has corrected that. He is going to need to explain to them how he’ll cope on the outside etc.

Considering, he didn’t even bother to fully attend the DV courses that a court previously ordered him to attend then I don’t see him doing the necessary work to ever be released.

Five of Sara’s siblings were taken to Pakistan by her father, Urfan Sharif, stepmother, Beinash Batool and uncle Faisal Malik. The family of eight spent weeks in hiding as the police hunted for them, at times hiding in cornfields to evade them according to the man who told the BBC he hid them

The children were discovered when police raided their grandfather’s house in early September 2023 and subsequently sent to a state childcare facility. When the three adults flew back to the UK a few days later, they left the children behind.

All five are still in Pakistan, now in the temporary care of a relative while the legal battle for where they will live in the long term continues.

Sara Sharif murder: Inside house in Pakistan where relative says Sharif family hid
In 2023 during a series of hearings in the Family Division of the High Court in London, Sara's siblings were made wards of court, and the court ordered that they should be returned to the UK. However, there have also been simultaneous court proceedings in Pakistan as the children’s grandfather, Muhammad Sharif, has fought for custody.

The BBC team in Pakistan has been in attendance of many of the court hearings since September 2023 - for some of the early hearings the children would often be in court, More recently the hearings, which occur every few weeks, have just been attended by lawyers from either side.

Despite over a year of legal back and forth, the children still do not know whether they will stay in Pakistan or be returned to the UK.

A Surrey County Council spokesperson said: "We are continuing to work our way through this highly complex situation, sensitively and carefully, working closely with all of the agencies concerned. Our overriding priority remains the wellbeing of the children and we request that their privacy is respected."

If years of sustained torture isn't sadistic I don't know what is.

The only real justice would be for US and BB to be subjected to exactly the same treatment as they inflicted on Sara.
'Sadistic motivations' would mean that they took pleasure/got a thrill from inflicting pain on Sara, and to be honest, there are elements that do seem to suggest something other than anger managment issues going on. The iron to the buttocks and bites to the thighs might be suggestive of sadism. The judge seems not to have been convinced, though.

At last!!!

Dearest Sara ❤️

Rest in Peace

Live with all your strength in Heaven
and smile at angels
Because you are not alone.
Sleep, dream at night
May a bad dream never wake you up again,
Now sleep.

May Good Lord always hold your hand
When the dark wind carries away the peace.

(I sing this Polish lullaby for you)

Dear Olga,
I wish you strength to carry on.
To carry on living.

My thoughts are with all Polish family of Sara,
I cried with you all
and hoped against hope that these monsters would be brought to Justice.
From the first day I learnt about this diabolical case, last year in August.

My only words concerning the murderers are:
GOOD RIDDANCE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sara's second Patria - Poland - paid tribute to the little girl.

"A smiling, precious 10-year-old girl.
She dreamed of the big stage,
maybe appearing on X Factor.

However,
the world came to know her when her life ended in a cruel way.

Today,
the court sentenced Sara's father and stepmother to life imprisonment for the girl's murder."

Polish MSM dutifully reported the case from the beginning.

Today,
they inform of the sentence for murderers.

"Sara Sharif's father and stepmother sentenced to life imprisonment.
'Vile Treatment' of the girl."

"Life sentence for Sara's murder.

'You are executioners'."

I'm in no doubt the father got pleasure from it. Why else would he do it? This was not down to loss of temper, and there was no genuine cause for punishment. It's the only explanation.

"Their gruesome abuse laid bare,

Sara Sharif’s father and stepmother

start life sentences to cries of ‘evil’.

There were cheers and applause from the public gallery as the sentences were delivered,
with one person heard to say 'evil'."

"Sara Sharif murder:

‘sadist’ father and stepmother jailed for life.

His voice shook as he described some of the injuries suffered by Sara,
who was 'trussed up' with masking tape and a skipping rope and hooded with plastic bags,
saying:

'This treatment of a 10-year-old child is nothing short of gruesome'.

Had she lived, he said, one of her burns would have caused permanent disfigurement."

:(

PS
Not to mention:
missing part of the finger, broken shoulder blades, spine, wrists, collarbone.
And brain damage.
They hated her with all their might.

"They had treated Sara as

'worthless' and as 'a skivvy'."

PS
A child who has a right to education.
(Where I live education is compulsory from 7 to 18 years of age.)
Shamelessly robbed her of that right.
And nobody noticed and intervened.
A 10-year-old made a SLAVE in a civilized country.

"This has been an incredibly complex and distressing case,
and it is thanks to the tireless work of

the prosecution team,
Surrey Police,
international partners,
and the CPS International Unit
that we were able to secure justice for Sara.

I also want to thank the jury for their careful consideration of the harrowing evidence presented in court."

Thank you!

We all agree on that, I think - for consistency in keeping on reporting every day. I don't know if you saw the link I posted on the first page of this thread:

This article also gives a glimmer of hope that prehaps the 3 defendants won't be so protected in their cushty cells

No I did not see that. So it is a charity site rather than proper newspaper which makes it all the more remarkable tbh

"Juror shouted 'Yes'

as killer handed 40 year sentence.

One of the 12 jurors who sat through the harrowing details of Sara's death as her killers went on trial at the Old Bailey,
returned today to hear the sentence.

Jurors are not made to attend court to listen to the outcome of the case they have heard,
as sentencing is solely a matter for the judge.

However,
one, who came back to court to hear what sentence the 10-year-old's father, step mum and uncle received
was heard to cheer and shout 'Yes'
as the judge told Sharif
he will serve a minimum of 40 years behind bars."

I think we could say it's a proper digital local newspaper that's been granted the status of a charity to keep it going financially. Local papers are in sharp decline and few do proper court reports these days.
All the more remarkable, as you say, though.
