Wayne Couzens will be sentenced for the kidnap, rape & murder of Sarah Everard over next 2 days. We’re sickened, angered & devastated by his crimes. They betray everything we stand for. We recognise his actions raise many concerns, we’ll comment further when hearing is complete

Hmmm - bracing themselves.

ETA - I have a suspicion this hearing will raise as many questions as it answers.

I thought the same, but don't actually know what Sarah's friends and family want.

I think it's distasteful, disrespectful and I wouldn't like it one bit

Friends spoke out about groups at the various vigils for Sarah and made it clear that they did not want her name to be connected to political agendas.

Couzens appears in the dock for sentencing

Wayne Couzens has appeared in the dock for sentencing.

He is wearing a blue suit and face mask. He is staring at the floor and appears unstable.

It was only one friend who spoke out and they had connections with a right wing website/magazine if I remember rightly.
Although talk of what’s right/wrong in regard’s to protests and politics was one of the reasons the thread was originally shut down so maybe best if the protests are left out of discussions on an important 2 days.

Am following this for live updates too - Rebecca Barry (@BeccaBarry) / Twitter latest tweet this: Wayne Couzens threw Sarah Everard’s mobile phone into the flood relief channel in Sandwich - within hours of murdering her. A broken fragment of her sim card was found in his car #SarahEverard

A former boyfriend described Sarah as “extremely intelligent, savvy and streetwise”. He could not envisage her getting into a car with someone she didn’t know - unless by force or by manipulation. Prosecution say that is precisely what happened

Prosecution say five words summarise what happened to Sarah Everard “deception, kidnap, rape, strangulation, fire” #SarahEverard

In 2019 Wayne Couzens purchased plot of woodland in Hoads Wood. Described it as “perfect for day trips” - but that’s where he was to burn Sarah Everard’s body after he had murdered her

I feel sick. The SC image which was swiftly removed after being mentioned on thread was in that location.

At some point after 2002 Wayne Couzens joined the Kent Special Constabulary, before joining the Civil Nuclear Constabulary in 2011. In September 2018, he joined the Metropolitan Police.

In December 2020 he set up a profile for himself on an internet dating site. He gave various false details about himself - saying he was separated and had no dependent children

On 10th February 2021 the defendant purchased a “police standard issue handcuff key with double locking pin” from Amazon - prosecution say this was all part of his planning before kidnapping Sarah Everard

2:30 AM · Sep 29, 2021·

Wayne Couzens was seen wearing his police belt with handcuffs - when not on duty. This is the type of equipment that it can be inferred that the defendant was wearing when he kidnapped #SarahEverard

In January 2021 Wayne Couzens worked on COVID patrols. He was therefore aware of the regulations and what language to use to those who may have breached them. He used this knowledge to kidnap Sarah Everard

Wayne Couzens, a former Met Police officer, worked on COVID patrols. Prosecution says he was “aware of the regulations, and what language to use to those who may have breached them. He was to use that knowledge to kidnap Sarah.”
