Embarrasing question, but I'm a Yank.

Isn't Kent a large county? Is there a city of Kent?

If he was arrested in Kent, how close is this to Brixton?

It's a very large county, but parts of it are basically London suburbs, and even the more distant parts are just about commutable to London, so it could well be where the arrested person lives.

C'mon, they arrested a guy because they think he did something to her. I don't think they arrested a guy because he helped cover up a crime and still don't know who the real perp is.

So this guy harmed her and a woman (maybe a girlfriend, wife, mother?) helped him hide it.

Random speculative theories:

1. She was having an affair with a police officer and he was in another relationship, maybe married? Wife finds out, they conspire to hurt Sarah? Or he hurts her and the wife/SO helps him cover it up?

2. The police officer preyed on Sarah. He used his position of power to get her into his vehicle and then harmed her. The woman (a wife or girlfriend or maybe a mother?) helped him cover up the crime in some capacity.

3. The police officer is in fact somehow related to or an acquaintance of someone known to Sarah. Not sure what the motive would be here but maybe this is the connection, who knows.

Edited to remove some stuff so we don't get the thread shut down

We do not know yet whether the police office was on duty at the time Sarah went missing.

Just my experience as an American defense lawyer, but I would wager the person arrested is either suspected to be responsible or deeply involved. You don't arrest people at midnight for obstruction or not being the most cooperative witness. There's a real urgency if you're getting a call at midnight.

It does explain getting her into transport - maybe as simple as an offer of a lift home.

And the female arrest could simply be the mum giving a false alibi or disposing of bloody or otherwise suspicious clothing or evidence.

Well with this case I had to come back to websleuths and see what everyone was thinking! I would have thought there would be a lot of CCTV and traffic in the area she went missing. Can't believe the man arrested is with the police...

I bet she knows him.

The fact that a woman has been arrested for assisting an offender makes me think she knew he knew her and she asked him/suspected he had something to do with it and has chosen to cover for him.
Perhaps a colleague? police usually operate in pairs, if he was on duty at the time. (speculating)

I wonder if he was on or off duty at the time.
More shocks to come in this case imo.

<modsnip>

I find it strange that this small dark car turns onto Poynders Road around the time SE was last seen. How can this person not have witnessed anything?

Question for Londoners... Do all Met Police wear uniform? Always travel in pairs? Drive unmarked vehicles?

It is part of what is known as the commuter belt for London so very possible their home.

The articles imply she was arrested at the same address/residence, so I'm thinking it's more likely to be a sister, girlfriend/wife, or mother.

What makes you think the police officer arrested isn't the perpetrator?

I was replying to the person who was inferring that the arrests were of family members of the boyfriend.

I think they have arrested the perp.

Surely they would have reported two serving PO's arrested though in that case?

I feel sick learning this news.
Me too - I actually nearly had a cry there, hearing that. As a local woman, I though the worst case scenario was a random attacker walking around. I had never thought of this sickening scenario. How are we ever meant to feel safe?

all theories are now possible. He already knew her and that is why timings of ending call with bf is all so perfect or he stopped her and forced her into car for breaching covid or something similar... I mean anything could be possible

STOP IT!

Here’s the thing. If this thread gets shut tonight because you lot are talking about family connections which is against TOS until/unless a suspect is named, there’s a good chance it won’t open until the USA based mods wake up tomorrow, so about 2/3pm our time.

I would strongly advise you to delete your posts immediately. The rest will no doubt be deleted by mods and I’m sure nobody wants to be put on a thread ban right now.
