Ok, I see, is that a police thing, I've never worked anywhere that people called in sick in advance

Maybe it means that if you are ill on a day you've booked as leave it then counts as sick leave instead of holiday and the annual leave day is returned to you.

I’m almost certain he wasn’t arrested until midnight, or specifically 11:59pm on the 9th of March. May be totally wrong but pretty certain this is what was reported.

Can’t recall seeing that myself - the times I’ve seen are police entered at 8pm and he was accompanied out to the car (“shirtless”) in cuffs and bagged hands around 10:30pm. I might check the Timeline thread as I’m not sure myself.

Well done, good research.
But also good luck convincing some people on here of that. They don't want to know or discuss, or research or even be open to any other possibilities or ideas other than their own.
Some people are even telling poor LeopardLeotard she doesn't live opposite WC's house! They're even disputing the photos taken from her balcony. Accusing her of lying! Crazy!!

Yes, quite.

There has been a lot of speculation on the two doors open of the white Astra. If she had got in the car then quickly opened the door (before he had time to put child locks on), he could have ran out of the car after her, leaving his door open as well.

I've not seen anything that tells us when his leave was due to end - just that he was on pre planned leave on the 4th.

I agree seems weird to have an email re: stress on the 5th, then a return to work so soon.

I also think emailing saying you don't want to work with firearms on the 6th seems an odd thing to do given thats the unit you are on, as it sort of draws attention to you when you'd surely not want to have attention drawn to you in this case. Unless - the email was a follow-on from the stress email on the 5th? Normally being off work for stress means you'll be off for a longer period, and there's a possibility the email about not wanting to carry a firearm being a 'actually I don't think I need lots of time off, but perhaps less stressful work rather than carrying a firearm/patrolling'.

I agree being back to work on the 9th seems odd if he was 'signed off' with stress.

He never returned to work that we know of. The report of him coming home from work on the day he's arrested only comes from "a source" or "insiders say" in a newspaper, so I wouldn't trust that report at all.

Also wouldn't be "signed off" with stress, he would be self-certifying for the first 7 days. He would need a doctor's note after that.

In my mind it's very simple and I have no reason to doubt what was stated in court today - he worked on the 2nd and then had leave until the 8th, when he was due back in work. But he phoned in sick on the 5th with stress and followed this up with an email on the 6th that mentioned he didn't want to work with firearms. Any employer whose employee calls in with stress and then follows up with that kind of email would assume this would be a long-term absence and that a doctor's note would shortly be forthcoming after the 1-week's self-certification was up. I think this is 100% what happened - his reasons for doing this are far less clear-cut.

I understand now but you didn’t phrase this in the clearest way. Please don’t call me ridiculous

Well don’t claim I’m blaming her then. With the current guidelines that’s the simplest situation to getting her to go quietly with a excuse over covid laws. IMO

If he had been following her then there would be footage of that as she was picked up by a doorbell camera. Plus London at the moment is pretty quiet on the streets so she would notice a a man the size of him following her. Traffic around that area would still be high but definitely a lot less people walking around on foot.

Yes, that was about three minutes after the two figures were seen on the road yet there are no people. They both must be inside the car or are out of range of the camera.

this goes against everything I thought happened but this sounds like she may have got in willingly. Oh god this is awful poor Sarah

This letter written by one of Sarah's friends gives a far better reply to your post than I could write myself. This is not what Sarah would have wanted

tbf, even her friend doesn't know what she would've wanted. I have every sympathy for her friends and family watching her death become a political movement but the murder of women (by police, no less!) IS political. There's no way of getting around it. Her death is two things - 1) personal to everyone who knew her, 2) and yet another act of violence towards women, a final straw if you like. There is such a great response to this case particularly because we can all imagine being in her shoes. And it's wrong that in 2021 women still have reason to fear being safe at 9:32 and in danger by 9:35. Sorry to go off-track.

Anyway, I hope the police manage to keep WC safe until trial. I think it's important that he sees justice, and not by his own hand.

I believe it was between 9 and 10 pm

This was the subject of heated debate in a previous thread, I suspect it was later deleted. There was a poster who suggested that foreign exchange students in London wear loudly coloured clothes. I have no idea if there's any truth in that.

Personally I don’t see the foreign student thing per se, but she certainly would have stood out. The reports I have seen relate to girls wearing almost identical clothing (bright waterproof, trainers and patterned trousers). It’s just a theory; and not a developed one, but there was possibly something about SE and others that made her a target. Her height will have made her vulnerable and appear younger I think. JMO

I don't really want to get involved in the Astra debate as I'm not a car buff but do you get child locks for the front passenger door?

I've been thinking about how WC made sure Sarah couldn't get out of the car and I thought it must have been a central control for all doors on the drivers door - would an Astra have that?

True - good point! Although would a lab tech be considered essential I wonder?

She does not work in a medical / hospital laboratory. It was reported as an engineering laboratory. I have no idea whether that would be considered essential or not

All l can say is the ignore button is a wonderful thing. There have been some very problematic comments from some posters.

Here in the U.K. it’s Mother’s Day tomorrow. My thoughts are with her family. I can’t imagine how hard Sarah’s mum will find tomorrow.

Floral tributes and messages have been laid at the spot where Sarah Everard was last seen as mourners broke down in tears.

But groups of mourners gathered to lay dozens of tributes Clapham Common where Sarah was last seen alive before her disappearance

Mourners break down in tears as they lay flowers at spot where Sarah Everard was last seen | Daily Mail Online

Not where she was last seen alive, but why let details get in the way of a story o_O

Lovely tributes to Sarah, and I don’t know know whether those distraught mourners are her friends but it’s clear the strength of feeling in this case will bring about a safety campaign, and rightly so.

I don’t know if you know the area but it’s home to many, many young professionals just like Sarah was. London is a city where you tend to walk to or from tube, from one local area to another without a second thought, especially before 10pm. I think so many local women in particular see themselves in Sarah’s shoes but for the grace of God and so there is a visceral outpouring of grief here, I think partly because of that. We all know that she could have been us and we could have been her just by a twist of fate.[/QUOTE]

I saw a response to this which now I can’t find, linking to an article by a friend of Sarah’s saying this isn’t what she would have wanted. While I understand that view, the poster seems to misunderstand my point that many women feel around here it literally could have been them but for fortuitous choices that evening. Not a hypothetical issue with men or male violence (although that too), that it could have been them but for the grace of God. I can tell you, living less than 3 miles away, having walked that route a hundred times, it’s not a nice feeling and
One that is hard to process. That was my only point to try to explain the feeling on the ground here.
