Sarah Everard: Met PC Wayne Couzens charged with murder

A serving Met Police officer has been charged with the kidnap and murder of Sarah Everard, who disappeared as she walked home in south London.

The 33-year-old's body was found in woodland in Kent more than a week after she was last spotted on 3 March.

Wayne Couzens, 48, will appear at Westminster Magistrates' Court on Saturday charged with her murder.

This case is now under sub-judice.

Under sub-judice, the following is not allowed:

Any non compliance with an Order of the court
Anything that may prejudice the accused’s right to a fair trial
Any suggestions or direct accusations that the accused is either guilty or innocent (i.e. the accused cannot be called "the killer", it has to be "the accused", the "alleged killer" or "the defendant")
A defendant’s previous history of any offences
Scandalizing the court (disparaging judges/lawyers, any officer of the Court)
Broadcasting anything about proceedings which happen in the jury's absence.

Please do not post anything that violates the above principles.

Thank you.

ETA for reference: UK Contempt of Court Act 1981

I’m not sure the poster
Very different profile to the local weirdo/loner/drifter that is common place in bad acts

that profile might be in films but quite often it’s the profile of the man in court family quiet job etc

I think you are way off

This is one of the most unique cases I can remember, a man so trusted in the community and in the police force he is trusted day in and day out with a gun, a man who has passed all the psychological evaluations to do so, a man who was married with young children and in videos seemed the doting father, a man who was described by all his neighbours as a friendly guy who would, and did, help his neighbours

Very different profile to the local weirdo/loner/drifter that is common place in bad acts

I disagree people who do these crimes often have the suspects profile

Currently Police are searching areas in Sandwich, Kent and other areas

"Police officers are continuing to search along Delf stream and The Rope Walk with metre-long wooden sticks.

Officers are also searching a trolley shelter at a Co-op supermarket.

The cordoned-off area contains a secluded path near a stream and homes.

At the edge of the cordon, a few officers gathered for discussion as one showed colleagues a piece of gold jewellery that was then put in an evidence bag."

As a follow up to my post at the end of previous thread.

I am very local to this case so any questions on the area or that night. Happy to help. As per other posts. SE would 99.9% have been on the left hand side of the road.

So sad that it takes something like Sarah's case to unearth other misdeeds
"26 MET POLICE OFFICERS & STAFF Arrested for Sexual Offences in Recent Years"
26 Met Police Officers and Staff Arrested for Sexual Offences in Recent Years – Byline Times
I've always held LE in high regard, I was one for a while, so I guess I sometimes forget that they're "human beings" too, with all their foibles. But they really should know, and behave, so much better!

I don't think WS can sort out the Met Police's wider issues, and it's quite a diversion from what happened to Sarah and the charges one Met Police officer is facing

If you were one then you know the job attracts more than the average of that sort, because of the appeal of a position of authority.

Also a local, and I'd also walk the left hand side of Cavendish/Poynders Road. Esp after dark.

I'd only walk on the other side during day light if walking home from ARG.

Just as an update for today. In addition to cordoning off and searching areas of Sandwich, divers have been called in to search an area of water along the pathway (not a river exactly apparently as shallow).

"Police investigating the death of Sarah Everard have been combing a supermarket car park in Kent as specialist divers were called in to search a stretch of water.

Officers are searching the Co-operative car park in Sandwich, days after Ms Everard’s body was found hidden in woodland in Ashford.

Large portions of the historic town remained cordoned off with police tape on Monday afternoon as inquiries into the death of the 33-year-old continue."

It's as if a few are preparing his defence already.... rape gone wrong, he's mentally unstable, his dominating wife, the death of his father, accidentally hit victim with car ... these are all excuses. This isn't a tinder date gone wrong where the lines can be blurred and manipulated.
He deserves a fair trial but those excuses will make a sorry day in court if presented by his defence.
I assume they'll be working on refuting the accused is the perpetrator of this heinous crime, and work backwards from there, the excuses will be left to the DM. Jmo

Edit - The Crown will be working to prove the accused is the perp and present the evidence, hopefully beyond reasonable doubt.

Also just reposting this Media Advisory Notice

"The Attorney General confirms the requirement not to publish material which could jeopardise a fair trial."

"Editors, publishers and social media users should take legal advice to ensure they are in a position to fully comply with the obligations to which they are subject under the Contempt of Court Act 1981."

I don't know if this subject has been addressed already. Sorry if it has been. These threads move so quick!
The area that SE's body was found was the former Go Ballistic paintball playing field. <DBM>
*CORRECTION: WC and wife walked the area. Whether they were familiar with the area, and if WC did soft training with paintballs is unknown.
The above is a picture of paintball gun.
At night, in rainy weather, only an outline of a gun would be visible. And certainly a young woman with no paintball or firearms experience would not know the difference.
Is it possible that WC, simply opened up the car door and flashed the paintball gun to get her into the car quickly and without any commotion? Is the Met looking for this paintball gun when they are going through the recycle bins?
As always, JMHO.
