Detectives in Kent investigating the disappearance of Sarah Wellgreen, who was last seen on October 9th, have re-arrested a man on suspicion of murder. A further search of a property in New Ash Green is taking place today. The man, in his 30s, was first arrested on 16 October.

They must have something fairly strong to call him back in before end of bail. Plus they only have 24 hours left for questioning by my calcs.

This is what her uncle Ronald said back in October -

Ronald said Sarah has an apartment abroad - understood to be Alicante - and used to run a bar in Spain with Nerf gun fanatic Ben.

Aside - I think he probably means Farnham not Farnborough in these quotes -

Ronald Wellgreen, 61, revealed he had been contacted by a man from Farnborough last week claiming to have been in a relationship with Sarah.

"I remember her telling me in June that she and this man in Farnborough weren't together anymore, but he seemed to think they were still in a relationship."

Oh but there is also this mention of Farnborough too, (same article) which is puzzling.

Martin Prus, manager of Puresun Health and Beauty Centre, said Neil James, from Farnborough, Hants...

Ignore me, I didn't realise Farnborough is so close to Farnham.

I thought they could extend it ? 36 hours, then 96 hours? Or does the fact it is a second arrest change things?

From the same article - to me, this shows how much neighbours don't see - from all I have read about Sarah, she was always out and about, working.

One, who didn't want to be named, said: "I'm hoping for her children's sake that Sarah is still alive. She never really left the house much from what I could tell so this idea she's gone and started a new life is very unusual and I doubt that's the case.

I was thinking they've already had 72 hours , from when they arrested him in back in October.

But as this is a different charge - arrested on suspicion of murder - then perhaps the clock goes back to zero.

Wow - I thought they would have examined the car ages ago.... rather tardy of them.

I'm astonished - does seem way too late

The link is to a very long document.

I copied out this part, as it may be relevant. If it is correct for BLs situation, then it means the police only have 24 hours or so ( from this morning ) to question BL before either charge or release.

CTL = custody time limit

Adding and amending charges when a CTL applies
[Archbold 1-347]

As a general rule, when a new charge is laid a new CTL relating to that offence will begin.

A new CTL will not begin if the charge is merely amended, or if the new offence is a restatement of the old charge with different particulars. The new offence must be a different offence in law to attract a fresh CTL.

Lacomba, a taxi driver, from Bazes Shaw, New Ash Green, who is the father of three of Sarah's children, is due to appear before magistrates in Chatham, Kent tomorrow morning.

A Kent Police spokesman said tonight: "Detectives from the Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate, with authorisation from the Crown Prosecution Service, have charged Ben Lacomba, aged 38, from Bazes Shaw, New Ash Green, with the murder of Sarah Wellgreen.

"He has been charged with murder and is remanded to appear by video link before Medway Magistrates’ Court at 10am on Friday December 21."
