Thirty-four year old man "known to the family".

Millionaire hotelier fatally stabbed at his Dorset home
Just quoting a few lines from your article

The woman who was injured in the incident was reported to be Anne Schrieber, 65, his long-term partner

Police said on Thursday that they received a report at 7.30pm on Wednesday raising concern for the welfare of the occupants of an address in the hamlet of Higher Langham. Officers attended the detached property, known as Moorhill, where they found the couple with serious stab wounds.

Sutton was pronounced dead at the scene at around 9.15pm while his partner was airlifted to Southmead hospital in Bristol, where she remained in a critical condition.

Following what the force described as “fast-time inquiries” by officers, a Range Rover believed to be linked to the incident was identified on its way to London and was stopped in Hammersmith, in the west of the city, where the suspect was arrested.

"Meanwhile, the suspect had fled in a Range Rover, triggering a police operation involving six forces.

A team of crack SCO19 firearms officers in an armed response vehicle then moved in on it at 10.30pm in Hammersmith.

They swung in front of the Range Rover, forcing it to stop.

The Met Police said: "At approximately 22:30hrs on Wednesday, 7 April, police stopped a vehicle in Chiswick High Road.

"When they approached the vehicle, officers discovered that the lone male occupant had sustained a number of serious self-inflicted injuries.

"The male has been taken to a West London hospital. His injuries have been assessed as non-life threatening."

[...]

Dorset Police said the man was known to the mega-wealthy victims.

Police are probing if the suspect visiting his father's grave earlier that day sparked a breakdown, The Times understands."

"The 34-year-old man who was arrested on Wednesday night was often seen in the tiny hamlet of Higher Langham and was described by one neighbour as a ‘lovely man.’

‘We would see him about quite often. He was a lovely man and very chatty. I don’t think he had a job as he was around here so often’ the neighbour told MailOnline."

I won't be surprised when they name the perpetrator. It's not hard to work it out.

Such a tragic event.
Agree - it is only a matter on time before they name the perp.

He had the presence of mind to take his passport (presuming it's his, from the above photo). Perhaps planning to leave the country. Makes me think he probably only stabbed himself when he knew the jig was up. So cowardly, bitter and self-entitled, IMO. Probably didn't have to pay a penny for anthing, living in his step-father's property.

I hope his mum makes a full recovery, and for her son, they throw away the key.

His poor mum and sisters who will have to live with what he has done. Am interested to hear what set him off.

Apparently he spent some time at his father's grave shortly before the incident, so maybe there was a trigger relating to his parents' relationship?

Depending on whether he is fit to plead we may or may not find out more.

"Thomas Schreiber, aged 34 and from the Gillingham area, has now been charged with murder, attempted murder and dangerous driving and is due to appear at Poole Magistrates' Court on Monday, Apil 12.

Sir Richard's partner and Schreiber's mother Anne, 65, had been wounded during the same incident and remains in a critical condition in hospital after suffering multiple stab wounds.

An initial post-mortem examination that was conducted on Friday indicated that the cause of death was stab wounds to his chest."

That locals think he didn't have a job, and the fact he was living at home at 34, makes me wonder if he was upset about money and being cut off for some reason... either cut out of his stepfather's will, or cut off from money right now

Locals also described him as 'socially awkward ' so perhaps he had some other difficulties.
He was said to have had a rented flat in London so presumably was not given money to help buy one.
