UK UK - STEPHEN PORT, Suspected SK of Male Victims, London

 • #61
Day 8. New witness who fled when Port tried to inject him. Disturbingly there was another man in Port's flat again. I hope police are still investigating.

Also at link are pics of Port's flat and a bit on the defence cross-ex.
______________

A 35-year-old man today told of a narrow escape from Port's flat after meeting him for sex on hook-up app 'Grindr'.

The alleged victim said Port sent him a picture of another man's face before he agreed to go there.

'It was dark. All I could see was a silhouette,' said the complainant.
'Then someone else emerged from another room.'

The man, described as 'quite large' told the alleged victim: 'Have fun,' the court heard.

The man said he went into Port's bedroom where they both stripped before the alleged killer inserted something into his backside, it is claimed.

'I heard a click,' he said before telling jurors he felt a burning sensation.

'I didn't know what was going through my head. As I heard the click, I started to panic.'

He added: 'I quickly ran to the front door in case he tried to stop me. I was panicking.'

Prosecutors say Port was trying to administer drugs in order to have sex with the man while he was unconscious.

After Port's arrest in October last year, the alleged victim told police: 'The whole episode was very bizarre. In fact it was the most bizarre and strangest meeting I had ever experienced.'

Day 9. Another victim. I have no idea where the defence is going to go.
________________

The man, who cannot be named for legal reasons, told the jury the pair started having sex in a "normal way" in the bedroom when Mr Port left to go to the bathroom.

When he returned, the man said he felt "a sharp pain and very intense sting" after he was injected with a "plastic syringe" which he had not seen Mr Port carrying.

ent to the bathroom and again injected the man when he returned, the court heard.

"On this occasion I jumped off the bed and told him you can't do that - I'm not comfortable," he said.

The man told the court he "started to get dizzy" but had continued having sex.

When Mr Port went to the bathroom for a third time, the man said he decided to leave and started to get dressed.

Also evidence re. the fourth murder victim, Jack Taylor, plus CCTV of Port and Taylor meeting.
________________

The Old Bailey was read messages sent between the pair on gay dating app Grindr in which they had arranged to meet at 03:00 BST.

The defendant can be seen in the video walking to the station and joining Mr Taylor, who arrived by taxi.

Jurors were told that Mr Port "blocked" Jack Taylor's Grindr account at 07:20, before deleting his own Grindr account later that day.

Mr Taylor, from Dagenham, was found dead on 14 September near a churchyard in Barking, where the bodies of two other men - Gabriel Kovari and Daniel Whitworth - had been discovered in 2014.

Day 11. Again no updates.

Why might that be? Is the media locked out for privacy reasons?

Why might that be? Is the media locked out for privacy reasons?

From what I've experienced since joining WS, it's just the state of court reporting in the UK.

Turn up for opening and closing statements, maybe the odd day in between if the evidence is likely to be salacious.

I assume it's down to cost for media outlets, but I don't think it's healthy for justice to go unreported. For both victims and the accused.

Absolutely! And especially in the case of a serial killer! This should be covered! Too bad they don't find it important enough. :gaah:

Day 12. Yay! A tweet.

From the link:

The 24-year-old told jurors he then ‘blacked out’ after Port injected drugs into his backside on the night of 9 October last year.

Sounding a familiar story.

More from today's witness evidence. Looks like the poor guy is going be cross-examined about returning to Port's flat. He was only 16 when he met Port, I'm guessing he wasn't much older when this happened.
______________

He said he fell unconscious and woke in bed to find his legs over Mr Port's shoulders.

When asked what the defendant was doing, he said he was having sex with him, and that he had not consented.

The man added that "I couldn't concentrate" and it was "like I was there but I wasn't there."

The court heard he returned to Mr Port's flat one week later, as he thought they would be joined by another man who then did not turn up.

He told the jury he was raped again after snorting more mephedrone, and that Mr Port had injected him with drugs against his wishes.

Day 14. Court hears 5 months of SP's Facebook postings.
_______________

A man on trial for murdering four gay men wrote to the boyfriend of one of his victims on Facebook "I hope he wasn't murdered", a jury has heard.

Stephen Port, 41, of Barking, told the partner of Gabriel Kovari that he had been to a sex and drugs orgy with a man called Dan.

The accused was using an alias, posing as a US student called Jon Luck.

Day 15. Stephen Port now giving evidence, so am assuming prosecution has closed. Firstly being questioned about the murder of Anthony Walgate, the first murder victim.
_________________

Giving evidence, he said he met the 23-year-old student online and offered him £800 to spend the night at his flat in Barking, east London, in June 2014.

While having sex, the student went to the bathroom and when he came back "he was high and very rampant", he told the jury.

After the student was sick, Mr Port suggested he stayed the night.

He told the court Mr Walgate was still sleeping when he went to work the next morning and after he returned later that day.

He said he went to bed that evening then woke up in the early hours to find the student "very rigid".

Mr Port said he "just panicked" and he took Mr Walgate outside and called an ambulance.

The court heard he was later convicted of perverting the course of justice.

The prosecution has alleged that Port had a fetish for boyish men – known as “twinks” – and for having sex with drugged young men.

Asked by his lawyer, David Etherington QC, if he enjoyed sex with men while they were asleep, Port replied. “It’s nice at first, less moving about, you can take your time.

“It gets a bit boring and gets a bit lonely: like having sex on your own, I suppose.” He would have consensual sex with an unconscious boyfriend but not with a stranger, he said, because they might “wake up and punch me or something”.

He said he was attracted to “twinks” because of “their energy, their life, their youth, beautiful, just nice to be with”. Asked why he wore a toupee, he said “just to be better looking, for confidence”.

Day 16. From Friday, bit late posting this. Port gives evidence about the 2nd and 3rd murder victims, Gabriel Kovari and Daniel Whitworth.
______________

Stephen Port, 41, said Slovakian Gabriel Kovari, 22, moved into his flat in August 2014.

But while he said Mr Kovari was "someone I liked - a friend", he denied they had had a sexual relationship.

He told jurors at the Old Bailey that he had gone to a "sex and drugs party" in Ilford with Mr Kovari, who went home early with a man called "Dan".

It was only weeks later that he realised that Dan was the same man he had met online and arranged to meet in Barking in September 2014.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-37798375
_______________

Port said that Mr Whitworth had become upset and confessed to him that he had gone with Mr Kovari to the churchyard to have sex and when he woke up, he was dead.

Afterwards, Port said Mr Whitworth became "angry at himself" and worried he would be caught by his DNA.

He said: "I explained to him he did not need to worry because it was not being treated as a murder. I said he should go to police, I would go with him and explain what happened."

Port said the young man suggested they "have some fun first", meaning sex and drugs.

http://www.standard.co.uk/news/crim...t-wrote-suicide-note-for-victim-a3381511.html
_______________

Later, the defendant said Mr Whitworth, from Gravesend, became upset again and asked him to write something for him on a piece of paper to get it "off his chest".

Port said he stuck to taking down his dictation but added in a line saying "BTW please do not blame the guy I was with last night" after joking that he might get the blame himself.

The defendant told jurors: "I thought it was just the G talking and he was just getting his emotions out of his system.

"I didn't believe he was actually going to do it. I would have stopped him. I would have done anything to prevent him doing it."

Asked by his lawyer David Etherington QC why he wrote the note for Mr Whitworth, Port said: "Just because he asked me to. He said 'if you do this for me, I will let you f*** me afterwards'."

I'm finding this all pretty improbable. Writing someone else's suicide note and be willing to go to the police with DW to explain GK's death when he's awaiting trial for perverting the course of justice in the first murder?

Nah.

I think his tales may well unravel during cross-ex.

Yea that's a load of bull imo.

Day 17. Port giving evidence re. The 4th murder victim, Jack Taylor. More coincidences.
_______________

Port claims the lad he met on gay hook-up site Grindr was "very much alive" when he left him in the back of the churchyard.

Two more of Port's alleged victims – Gabriel Kovari, 22, and Daniel Whitworth, 21 – were found in almost the same spot the previous year – while Anthony Walgate, 23, was discovered nearby.

________________

“Then we just had sex like that for two hours.” [in the churchyard]

Port said he suggested going back to his flat, and told jurors: “He said, ‘I’m going to sit down here for a bit, I'm feeling tired’.”

After leaving at around 2.30am on September 14 last year, Port said that he never saw Mr Taylor again.

He claimed that he never had sex with him while unconscious and never intended to cause him any harm.

Port admitted lying to police about his association with three of his alleged murder victims, adding: “The truth seemed like a lie, so I lied to make it seem like the truth.”
