Steven Dyson did not return to his Bury home on Monday (January 1). Police believe the 22-year-old may have been assaulted at a party on St Andrew’s Close, in Ramsbottom, in the early hours of New Year’s Day. Officers are concerned Steven may need urgent medical attention. He attended the party after going to the Grey Mere Pub on Bolton Street and Longsight Service Station on Longsight Road in Bury at around 3am on New Year’s Day. Steven is then believed to have been attacked during at the party, which he left around 9am.

Officers found a body in the river in Bury, Greater Manchester, near to Railway Street, earlier.

Police say it is too soon to say if it is Mr Dyson, but there are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances surrounding the death.


Inquiries will continue to identify the man and the circumstances which led to his death.

Police awaiting court date for man charged with assault of Steven Dyson | Bury Times

Daniel Conway, aged 22, of South Street, Bacup was charged with causing actual bodily harm and appeared before Manchester Magistrates Court in July, where he pleaded not guilty.

Magistrates sentenced him to a community order for 12 months.

As part of the order he must undertake 240 hours of unpaid work and participate in 15 days of rehabilitation activities.

Conway was also told he must pay £150 in costs plus an £85 victim surcharge.
