A man charged with the murder of a woman found dead after a house fire has appeared in court today. [15 February]

Kyle David Edward Ellis, 25, appeared at Llandudno Magistrates to confirm his name, date of birth and address, which was given as New Hall Way, Ruabon, Wrexham.

He is charged with the murder of Susan Hannaby on Thursday, February 11, at an address on New Hall Way, Ruabon, Wrexham.

A man accused of murdering his grandmother will appear in court this morning.

Kyle David Edward Ellis is accused of murdering Susan Hannaby on Thursday, February 11, at an address on New Hall Way, Ruabon, Wrexham.

The 25-year-old accused is grandson to Ms Hannaby, 69.

He will appear before Mold Crown Court this morning.

A hearing at Mold Crown Court on Monday (Sep 6) heard how 25-year-old Kyle Ellis has been charged with the murder of his 69-year-old grandmother.

Ellis has been sent to hospital under section 35 of the Mental Health Act for psychiatric reports to be done.

A provisional date of March 28 has been set for the trial.

A 26-year-old man has admitted the manslaughter of his grandmother following the discovery of her body after a house fire.

Kyle Ellis, of New Hall Road, Ruabon, Wrexham, denied murder on 11 February last year, and the prosecution accepted his pleas.

Kyle Ellis, 25, accepted unlawfully killing 69-year-old Susan Anne Hannaby, whose body was discovered in the kitchen after a house fire at her home in Ruabon on 11 February 2021.

At an inquest opening, Home Office pathologist Dr Brian Rodgers gave a provisional cause of death as blunt force head and chest injuries, neck compression and multiple stab wounds.

Mold Crown Court heard that Ellis has paranoid schizophrenia and was "profoundly mentally unwell" at the time of the killing.
