This sounds as though the remains are probably too decomposed to be Svitlana.

A badly decomposed body has been found in parkland near a city centre.

The remains, discovered by a passer-by in the Cross Green area of Leeds, were so decayed police could not tell whether they were those of a man or woman.

I guess it depends what they mean by badly decomposed and how exposed the body has been to the elements/wildlife :/
Although on the BBC radio 2 news they said the police suspected it was male

I dunno, April to January is long enough isn't it? And Svitlana lived in Halton until just before she went missing which is only a mile or two from where these remains were found. Odd though that the body has only just been found in an area popular with dog walkers, has it been placed there more recently?

I'd forgotten the Halton link, thanks.

In a all honesty I don't know too much about decomposition, more of a guess from reading this site.

One year missing. I think this is the first MSM article since last June.

New searches are to be carried out for a woman who disappeared "without a trace" from her home a year ago.

Svitlana Krasnoselska, originally from Ukraine, was last seen in Micklefield, Leeds, at 05:00 BST on 3 April 2017.

Ms Krasnoselska, who was 40 at the time she went missing, had lived in the UK for 12 years and has a daughter.

West Yorkshire Police said additional search areas around Micklefield had been identified and teams would visit these in the coming days.

I keep checking the West Yorkshire Police site to see if there's any updates on the body found in Cross Green, Leeds, but there's nothing.

I can't help thinking it's Joseph Shann and the lack of info is due to reopening his murder investigation.

Glad they're searching again.

I can't take credit for this as I saw it on reddit but the artists impression of this Jane Doe found at Beachy head looks remarkably like Svitlana.

Mystery of unknown woman found dead near Birling Gap
You're right, there is a good likeness. There's a thread for this unidentified person.

UK - UK - East Sussex, WhtFem, 25-55, washed ashore in a cove, jewellery, Jul'17

I've actually submitted someone else, but Svitlana's timeframe fits better, the geography isn't quite as good, but by no means a deal breaker.

Are the people on reddit going to suggest her?

I believe they've already submitted it. You would hope the husband/daughter would be able to identify the jewellrey quite quickly if it is her.

I see similarities - thin upper lip, fuller lower one, similar nose. Beachy Head though? Bempton's nearer. Like you say though, LB, not a dealbreaker.

Also, pretty much radio silence on Svitlana, even locally. Makes me think that all along the police have suspected a voluntary disappearance rather than foul play. Advantage Beachy. It has to be the most famous/infamous suicide spot in the UK.

I thought the same regarding distance but also read people have been known to travel from abroad to commit suicide there! So I guess it's not completely out of the question.

Edit: Just had a quick look on wiki and it states the following (obviously by no means take this as fact).

"Between 1965, and 1979, there were 124 deaths at the location. Of these, S. J. Surtees wrote that 115 of them were "almost certainly" suicides (although a coroner's verdict of suicide was recorded in only 58 cases), and that 61 percent of the victims were from outside East Sussex."

I need to re-read, but I thought she was off to work at 5 in the morning when she went missing.

There is nothing about this that suggested to me she was a sex worker.

Yes, she had worked at hotel. CCTV photo released was from her work, albeit 3 month old photo prior to her going missing.

Few reported sightings of her by public have been checked and has been discounted.

That police searched area around her house, trash bins, park and quarry suggests to me that they suspect foul play.

Lana’s disappearance and the Seven Sisters Doe has been niggling at me for ages now.

I have been thinking this for a long time too, I'm not sure if this was looked into or not as a possible match by the authorities?

Yes, it must have been because the Missing Persons Unit state on the page that this individual is "known not to be Svitlana Krasnoselska".

They would have definitively confirmed that, so by DNA testing. The image of the unknown woman found at Cuckmere Haven does look very much like the photos of Svitlana. But it is not her.
I searched for news stories in Ukrainian about Svitlana, to see if there was anything more written about her in her home country. But there is nothing. There is a BBC Ukrainian Service article about her written in 2017 shortly after she disappeared, and that was republished in one or two Ukrainian news sites. None of these stories mentioned where Svitlana was from in Ukraine.

Her husband is also Ukrainian, going by his name -- NB the newspaper article below has misspelled his name and he is called VASYL and not Vafyl.
