In addition police shot and killed 3 suspects. The canisters (bombs) shown on one of the suspects turned out to be hoax.

Yes, that's how I understood. Explosives were fake and suspects were shot.

Since late yesterday evening [Saturday, 3 June], the Metropolitan Police Service has been responding to incidents in the London Bridge and Borough Market areas of south London. We are treating this as a terrorist incident and a full investigation is already underway, led by the Met’s Counter Terrorism Command.

An on-duty British Transport Police officer received "serious injuries" including head, face and leg wounds, as he responded to calls for help from the public, Scotland Yard said.

Their belief is there were 3 attackers but are still working to be 100% confident. Said it's too early in the investigation to say for certain.

"Armed officers responded very quickly and bravely, confronting three male suspects who were shot and killed in Borough Market. The suspects had been confronted andshot by the police within eight minutes of the first call. The suspects were wearing what looked like explosive vests but these were later established to be hoaxes."
