London attack: Police reveal the knives used to slaughter innocent pedestrians

Bound with black tape, the 12-inch weapons which helped kill and maim revellers were ceramic

attachment.php

"Where have they come from? Where might the attackers have bought them from?

"If you know anything about these particular types of knives, please let us know - it could prove a crucial lead in our investigation.
"There were three identical knives - each attacker had one of those in their hand, wrapped with some kind of leather binding.
"The leather binding actually went around the attackers' wrist so in essence it was almost strapped to their wrist.
"It appears to be some kind of kitchen knife, and there is an indication they are ceramic and you could potentially avoid metal detection systems."

Other than the strap it reminds me of some knives I got at Costco.

I sliced my finger on one and it was so sharp I didn't feel it at all, and didn't know it until there was blood all over the cutting board.

I can't read the brand name though. Ernesto? Although it looks like an omega symbol at the beginning. What a terrible thought.

Wondering if the knives used were completely ceramic, or coated with ceramic?
Why would they all have matching coloured knives?
https://www.hsn.com/products/cuisinart-10pc-ceramic-coated-stainless-steel-knife-set/8209656

The same reason they would have the same guns or the same bombs, I guess. The colors though..not sure. Maybe they knew someone who worked someplace that sold them, or they knew a place to steal them, or they were able to order them online cheaply or anonymously.

Or had someone helping them who did any one of those things.

I think being able to figure out the brand would be a big help.

The picture I posted isn't the set I have, and I think mine are ceramic, not just ceramic coated.

I think that it is Ernest with a heart symbol at the end.

ETA Changed my mind. Ernesto the heart shape denotes the O.

The leather strap would help you have a better grip, keep it in place, and if it covered part of the blade would also prevent you from accidentally cutting yourself before you're ready to use it. JMO, etc.

Also wasn't one of the moroccan guys working as a chef? The one with the irish id card?

Some very interesting detailed information at this link - including timeline of the attackers movements on London Bridge, appeals for information from the public, photos etc. - too long to c/p.here.

http://news.met.police.uk/news/appe...used-in-london-bridge-terrorist-attack-245444

The attackers first drove southbound onto London Bridge at 21.28hrs. They drove off the bridge turned round and drove back, northbound up the bridge again. Once at the north end, the attackers did a U-turn and drove back southbound, fatally and purposely driving into pedestrians as they did so.

They then crashed into railings outside the Barrowboy and Banker pub. Here, the men abandoned the van and ran off to Borough Market where they began to stab members of the public.

Counter terrorism officers have so far spoken to 262 people from 19 different countries. Of these, 78 are significant witnesses.

Commander Haydon continued: "Many witnesses we've spoken to have provided extremely helpful accounts of the attack but we are still missing pieces of the picture.

Following the attack, specialist forensic officers examined the van and recovered a large quantity of items from it, including:

= 13 wine bottles with rags wrapped around them and believed to be filled with a flammable liquid;
= two blow torches;
= a number of office chairs and a suitcase, which police understand the attackers had told family they were using the van to move, as a cover story;
= gravel bags which police believed were used to weigh the vehicle down or as a cover story to explain away why they had hired the van.

All three men were wearing hoax suicide belts consisting of plastic water bottles wrapped in grey duct tape.

Much of the information contained in my previous link from Met Police is also here, but with some extra details and clear photos of the knives, van and what it was found to contain etc.from a press conference that was given by LE.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-40228756

When briefing reporters, Commander Dean Haydon said the police - from the Met and City of London forces - had shown "incredible bravery".

He added: "We have stories of people armed with chairs, bottles, anything they could get their hands on with a view to trying to prevent the attackers coming to pubs and bars but also scaring them off to prevent other people being attacked."

He detailed the actions of four people who put their lives at risk to fight back and help the injured:

A doctor at a restaurant heard screaming and "with no regard for his own safety" ran outside to pick up an injured man and carry him across the bridge

A public relations consultant heard the van crashing and gave first aid to a man who'd been stabbed - despite the danger

A restaurant worker tried to fight off an attacker who came in and stabbed a young woman in the back

An off-duty police officer was stabbed in the stomach as he tried to disarm one of the attackers

Think of the beautiful men we have suddenly come to know: Rick Best, Taliesin Namkai-Meche and Micah Fletcher of Oregon who stepped in to help two young girls being abused on a train; Canada’s Tyler Ferguson who cradled his fiancée Christine Archibald as she died in the London attack; Florin Morariu, the Romanian baker who threw crates at the Borough Market attackers; the nameless cabbie who swerved to warn a 19-year-old woman at an ATM to “RUN!”; the Spanish waiter Sergio Farina who held the restaurant’s doors tight against men armed with long knives; the Manchester doctor Naveed Yasin who spent 48 hours treating bomb attack victims only to be racially abused in the street.

And then we have fresh bright Richard Angell, the young Londoner cheerfully heading back post-attack to pay his restaurant bill and saying, “If me having a gin and tonic with my friends, flirting with handsome men and hanging out with brilliant women is what offends these people so much, I’m going to do it more, not less.” I raise a glass to this man.
For this is what the killers have in common: they are men. They are almost all young. They hate women. Whatever their group, their world view is small and cramped, their reactions physically violent and their contempt for women born of status anxiety. They display maleness by spilling blood.
“The problem isn’t Islam, or a perverted interpretation of Islam, but rather a perversion of frustrated masculinity,” the journalist Hadley Freeman has written, listing terrorists who beat and controlled their wives. Daesh killers are sex slavers and pedophiles. “Wives and girlfriends make good target practice” for men planning mass death.

Just wanted to post this article - fantastic photos of Britain during the Blitz in 1940/1. Did you know London was bombed every single night for 57 nights? Imagine that, knowing a bomb was coming from the sky at any moment. Wow.

This is my favourite pic, plus the milkman and the library

In September 1940, Holland House in Kensington, west London, was heavily bombed. Miraculously, much of the structure of its library survived - giving bookworms the chance to still indulge their passion

They're amazing, aren't they! I like to imagine the lady owns that suitcase, and had it packed ready with her favourite china tea-cup.

This. I've read so many articles about this, and why it's the most obvious fact we're avoiding.
