Vera Holland, 47, from Shinfield Rise in South Reading, was reported missing on Thursday 14 November 1996 after going out to buy a KFC.

Two days later her burnt remains were found at the local rubbish tip by firemen putting out a fire there at 5.30 am. She had been asphyxiated.

The case has been officially reopened. A formal press conference will take place on Friday, involving both the police and Vera's family.
