Murder probe police launch underwater hunt for missing Pat McCormick

Mr Montgomery's appeal comes as specialist police teams visited wetlands near Castle Espie on the outskirts of Comber today to carry out an underwater search following information from the local community.

Police will also be carrying out a significant route search in the Comber area with the help of the community rescue team.

Last night officers handed leaflets to motorists in Comber in a bid to glean further information.


Mr Montgomery disclosed a key line of enquiry focuses on the centre of Comber the day after the ex-soldier was last seen.

Pat McCormick: County Down lake search for missing man

Police have begun a search of a lake and wetland for a missing County Down man who is believed to have been murdered.

Pat McCormick, a 55-year-old father of four, was last seen in Comber on Thursday, 30 May.

Police divers are searching a lake in the wetlands beside Strangford Lough.

Parts of the lake being searched are nine metres deep and police have said the search is likely to continue for much of Friday.

New information received in hunt for missing Co Down man

New information has been received by police investigating the disappearance of a Co Down man, the detective leading the murder probe said.

On Thursday, two weeks on from his disappearance, police carried out a media appeal and road stop in Comber.

Mr Montgomery said that, as a result, they have received new information and thanked for the community for their co-operation.
