October 17, 2024

Operation Identification identifies and repatriates human remains found at the southern border. The nonprofit hopes to provide closure to families, at no cost to them, who aren’t sure if their loved one is missing or deceased.

The nonprofit has identified nearly 200 people with Texas State University’s Postdoctoral Scholar, Victoria Swenson, partially leading the efforts when the group travels to border towns. The program’s director is Dr. Kate Spradley.

And…..Still no one has been to the sites to collect the remains that have been reported. They are still there, plus 8 more sets of remains have been found since late August.

October 27, 2024

Today is October 26 and they’re (local authorities) not here, and we reported it another time. But I don’t want to give up on this site. This was a human life right here. And I made a promise to her (human remains),” Carpenter said.

To this date, they have located over 20 sites with skeletal remains west of Santa Teresa — eight of them since late August, with the most recent on Oct. 20.

I hope someone from the Dona Ana Sheriff’s department picks up the remains and starts an investigation. This is unreal that they keep having to call and no one shows up!

Not found by USBP but this man had documentation in his pocket that seemed to link him to Mexico, according to Namus.

A USBP recovery updated in Namus a few days ago - UP122061 partial skeletal remains of an adult male 30-60yo found 15 August 2023 and estimated to have died earlier in 2023.

One particular case that has stuck out for me is: 1776UFAZ - Unidentified Female
She is, like many of these cases, that were found with a Mexican IFE (it's now called an INE). On each of these IDs there is a CURP, which is like a Social Security Number, unique to an individual. You can go to the Mexican government site "Gobierno de Mexico" and type in any of the CURPs found on these IDs to see if they are genuine: CURP | Trámites | gob.mx

But it's not as easy as it seems for many of them. As someone who has first-hand knowledge of what goes on and has gone on for decades with people crossing the border, these IFE cards can be bought in order to avoid being linked to a previous border attempt if you were caught. This woman was found with a Georgia ID, a SSN card and a birth certificate under a new name, which could again; be checked to see if it was real or not and more than likely, the paperwork is all fake. She was either:

1. Trying to enter the US with a fake IFE card, no fingerprints = no way to tie her to that IFE card
2. She was not from Mexico, she was crossing from another country, gained entry into Mexico with the IFE card and got US documents in Mexico or before entering and didn't survive the crossing into the US.

The IFE card also has your prints on the back. The one I see online says it was issued in 1998. If that particular version of the card has the strip and not the scannable barcode on the back, then it would make sense why she didn't update the card.

A woman with a Georgia ID, expiring 2007 with paperwork saying she was born in the US with a SSN card, alongside a IFE card registered in 1998, no known issued date nor expiration date. IF it was issued and this particular version, again 1991-2008.

There is a case from 2008 that makes me want to scream, she apparently stayed at a pastor's house in Sonora, MX. I found out he posted some google reviews here and there......He even comes and goes between MX and the US and posts reviews etc.

That would be this one that was solved in May, right?

I think it would also help to pinpoint which version of the Mexican IDs are which. The ID found on 1776UFAZ - Unidentified Female was an IFE ID issued 2008 and onwards. The more I stared at it, the more I realized she had it issued between 2008-2009. That version of the card was issued between 2008-2013 the latest, it had the smaller version of the photo within the ID, the picture had no rounded edges like ones made prior to 2008. It has a box for a signature in the front, prior to 2008 the signature is located on the back of the card. These cards had a watermark in the background (front), in the shape of the country of Mexico. The age requirement for an IFE (INE) is 18, making the birth year of 1980 correct. But I have a feeling that's not her in the picture, maybe the IFE card is fake too, it would help if a facial reconstruction of her was made, posted on social media for the state of Chiapas (if that's really where she's from).

I think about these cases a lot, knowing how easy it was to get fake IDs and the cost of having it all prepared beforehand when being crossed over the border. Her family probably thinks she made it into the US, maybe she had no family.
