Thank you! So should she be removed from the spreadsheet now that she has her own thread and a NamUs listing?

I am not sure if anyone can help me or not. I am looking for a photo for Maria Cowan missing from Toronto in the 80s. I tried looking through ancestry records but it wants me to upgrade for over 135$. I do find her case rather interesting but theirs nothing on it outside of the RCMP.

I'm suggesting NamUs UP1528 as a possible match for missing person "NJK" (missing from Philadelphia, 3/20/03). The UID was found in Atlantic City, NJ, on 8/28/03. The remains match the MP for height, approx. age, and the picture of the deceased person looks quite a bit like some of the pics of the missing person, "NJK." I also sent the tip to Atlantic City PD, as this is where the decedent was located.

here's another from Ancestry:

MAW, white male born Oct. 13, 1946 in Ohio. Raised in Elkhart County, Indiana. One family tree puts him as disappearing c.1962, while another puts him as dying/going missing in 1971. None of the family trees on him include any sourced information past 1956, however, info from Ancestry shows that he seems to have been alive up to at least 1964.

I found some later mentions of him in the papers as well. Here's the information we know:
MAW's mother's obituary lists him as predeceasing her; his father's obit doesn't make any mention of relatives who predeceased him.

Some notes while researching:
  • I suggest looking at the full records for all of the Ancestry links I shared above, as I have corrected some of the AI transcriptions, though those edits don't show up without clicking on Full Record lol
  • Ancestry suggests some records for another boy from the same time with the same name who attended Ottawa HS in Toledo, OH; this seems to be a different, non-missing person, as he is visually dissimilar from the known photo of MAW
  • There are some mentions of someone with the same first & last names and middle initial in Indiana newspapers from at least 1970 to 1973; this is a different person who was four to five years younger than MAW and lived in Marion, IN. He also seemed to have a different middle name
  • There's also another MW who died in 1969; however, he was younger than, and lived in a different part of the state as, MAW. Furthermore, from above we know that MAW was alive up to at least December 1969; this MW died in March 1969
Important Update I found right after posting (lol whoops): This clipping from March 1979 confirms that MAW has been missing since September 1971.
just checking up on this as i see he has yet to be added to the spreadsheet :)

also -- another photo of PRW (#599) can be found here. i was the first to find info about her online and link her to Little Miss X, but that all went down the drain when my original reddit account got deleted. but anyways, that photo came from the 1957 Burbank High School yearbook; unfortunately either link requires a subscription to see the page in full, but her photo is on pp. 174, last row, sixth from the left, under the name P. Wilson. also, the photo of her from the newspaper has the nickname "Pat" written in the bottom right corner. she isn't in the 1956 or 1959 yearbooks, though the 1958 hasn't been uploaded online

went looking for more on Ancestry, here's what i've got so far:

CRB (alternatively CRDB), white female born July 10, 1949. Married a man with same last initial in September 1967 (when CRB was 17 and her husband was 26), and gave birth to a daughter that same year. Lived in Indiana her whole life. According to the family tree, CRB went missing in Indiana -- possibly Monroe County if I'm understanding these trees right -- in May or June 1971 (when she was 21 years old); the description on the tree says "Death not confirmed--declared missing"

PJB, white male born March 21, 1949 (though one tree says 1950) in Brooklyn. Very little information available; not even the year he disappeared. The two trees hyperlinked directly above state "missing 40 years"; this one, which I'm assuming is older than the other two, says "missing 35 years." With this + the fact that Ancestry rolled out the family tree creator feature in 2006 in mind, it seems that PJB went missing sometime between c. 1971 to 1991? Likely sometime closer to the start of that range, given that there is no info about him past the 1950 census (at least, none that can be verified as him), but that's just speculation on my part.

Unsure if this one counts I guess, but CRD, white male born 1950 in Atlanta. Plane went missing over West Palm Beach on Nov. 23, 1970. Officially declared dead on July 23, 1979. The linked tree has multiple articles about the search for the plane

EB, b.Feb. 14, 1949 in Ohio. I've found some records up to 1982. Missing since 1990. The trees in the Ancestry search results are saying she went missing from Bas-Rhin, Alsace, France, but when I click on the tree nothing about France comes up

here's a sorta rapid-firing of more that i've found but can't take the time to fully summarize right now:
JWB, b.1949, missing since [?]. Someone with same name except slightly different surname spelling has records up to at least 2002, but unknown if this is the same person

JGF, b. June 24, 1949 in Houston, missing since [?]. Alt spelling GGF. Listed as survivor in mother's 1991 obituary. Can't find anything else past the 1950 census [Note: he is not this J/GF]

DO, b. Dec. 1949, last record in tree 1994, listed as missing from TX

DAT, b. Apr. 1949, grew up in Los Angeles, missing after 1967

and idk you take these, but here are some American citizens who seem to have gone missing in other countries (and don't seem to be military):
JLH, May 1976, Ecuador
WHL, 2002 or later, Brazil
DRG, c.1982, Thailand

So are we allowed to enter information into the spreadsheet? Or should we message a moderator? I'm sorry - I've read through all of these posts and I'm still confused, but I have an update (one of these MPs is now in NamUs).

Missing person "KLC" (with multiple aliases) is now in NamUs, MP21371.
Currently, there are only 2 of us with permission to edit/add to the spreadsheet. Anyone who has access to the link, however, can make comments, which I try my best to respond to. It's been a couple of years since this thread and project started, and I have not been able to update the Sheet in a while.

I updated Kathleen to show she's been added to NamUs, and that's thanks to your post here.

I'm willing to pass the torch (add other editors to the Sheet), but it's my baby and a labor of love for @victoriarobinson642 and me.

Thanks so much for your reply and for all you do to help the missing and unidentified.
