A Brazilian couple in Porto Alegre, Brazil, together for nearly 70 years, had just one marriage vow they didn't take seriously; 'Until death do us part'.

They had married in 1948 and never spent a day apart in 65 years of marriage, so when Italvino Possa had to go to the hospital as his leukemia worsened, staff placed him on the same ward as his wife, Diva Alves de Oliveira Possa. She had just begun chemo for a tumor. Staff pushed their beds together so they could hold hands.

89-year-old Italvino died, October 7th. 80-year-old Diva followed her husband into death just 40 minutes later. It didn't part them.

Something to think about. There'd be little chance of a marriage like theirs starting today. When they were married, she was 15 and he was 24. Even so, I know there are still forever after marriages going on all the time - we just don't hear about them as much as we do the abusive/unsuitable kind. MOO

I worked in death claims for a few years and it was not uncommon to have perfectly healthy spouses die from heart failure shortly after their spouse.
