It is time for the President to release the video and pictures of the killing of Osama. We can handle it, we watched the towers come down.

That's right!
We also saw Americans jumping out of windows to their deaths to get away from the fire.

We saw families clutching pictures of their loved ones hopeing they were ok but in their minds knowing they were gone.

We've heard the horrific stories for close to 10 years.

America has been through HELL due to OBL's "orders" to fly those planes into our buildings, we can handle seeing his dead body.

JMO and ITA with you Doc.

I read they were left at the compound but I've read so many articles today, I can't provide a link.
But I remember reading OBL's body was the only dead body they took.

http://news.yahoo.com/s/yblog_exclu...clusive/the-secret-team-that-killed-bin-laden
After bursts of fire over 40 minutes, 22 people were killed or captured. One of the dead was Osama bin Laden, done in by a double tap -- boom, boom -- to the left side of his face. His body was aboard the choppers that made the trip back. One had experienced mechanical failure and was destroyed by U.S. forces, military and White House officials tell National Journal.

Does anyone really think there was only one close call in Afghanistan? Or just one reported/known about by the media?

Who knows!
The way he was crawling around those caves like a rat for so long, there is no telling how close we were to him and didn't know it.
Or maybe our troops knew it and the government didn't share the info because it was not really useful info.

I ventured out and about today. It was interesting what I was hearing. There does seem to be a building conspiracy theory out there - by that I mean some of the people I talked to don't believe we got him. When I asked why I got different reasons:

1) It was too quick - done, bang, dead, ID'd, and dropped into the sea in just under 14 hours.

2) OBL had ALOT of look alikes

3) A 40 minute firefight by our Seals and not a one (out of 24) suffered any injury at all. But yet we blew up one of our helicopters.

4) There are no pictures.

Now, I'm just the messenger here. I'm just reporting on what I heard out and about in the streets today. I don't necessarily believe any of it.

I do believe that if the photo was released it would help to squelch a lot of this. Also, I just heard they did have fingerprint ID as well. I believe we got him - but it seems there are quite a few that don't hold that same belief.

Does anyone know what happened to the other people after the mission, who were in the compound? Where did his wife's body go? Who took possession of it. What about his kids? I know the Seals got in and out very quickly. I'm curious.

Also, I was watching MSNBC and learned this about our ally, Pakistan:

1. The middleman to bin Laden and the Taliban during the 80's when it came to giving them American weaponry and providing them American-style military training in their fight against the Russians in Afghanistan, was the Pakistan Intelligence Service.
2. The one to sponsor Osama over the years, giving him a safe haven and refuge, was Pakistan.
3.Ramzi bin al-Shibh, known as a key facilitator of the 911 attacks, was captured in Karachi, a major city in Pakistan.
4. Abu Zubaydah, the number three man in Al Qaeda, was captured in Faisalabad, a major city in Pakistan.
5. Khalid Sheik Mohammed, the 911 mastermind, was captured in Rawalpindi, a major city in Pakistan.
6. One of Osama's lieutenants was captured in Lahore, a major city in Pakistan.
7. Osama was captured in Abbottabad, a major city in Pakistan.

Whenever the Pakistani government has been notified in advance of an attempt to get Al Qaeda, the operation has failed. This time, they weren't notified.

After 911 happened, my brother said that the biggest threats to our security were not Iraq or Afghanistan, but Saudi Arabia and Pakistan, the biggest supporters of terror. I think he was right.

This mission was well planned. The participants were well trained. President Obama gave the order. Everyone was in the right place at the right time. Geronimo, indeed!

I have been reading comments posted to articles in my local newspaper and it borders on amazing to see how many refuse to give President Obama his due for this successful mission, one that was carried out without loss of American life and without danger to civilians in that Pakistani neighborhood. It goes without saying that Obama did not pull this off by himself...but I have no doubt that all those who refuse to credit President Obama on a job well done would not hesitate for a second to hold him solely responsible if anything had gone wrong.

Just caught Anderson interviewing Musharraf. Excerpt below:

Anderson Cooper: Mr. president for years US officials, Intel officials have been saying OBL was in fact in Pakistan, you have been denying for years now, categorically saying no, he was in Afghanistan...do you now admit you were wrong?

Pervez Musharraf: no, I don't think i was ever denying, I was asked everywhere...and my first response invariably always was that i don't know, I don't know where he is.

AC: actually sir that's not true you said repeatedly he was in Afghanistan

PM: and I used to ask, what Intel do you have? He could be in Afghanistan. But I never, I always said he could be in Pakistan or Afghanistan. I never said no, he was never in Pakistan, I never said that

AC: actually sir that's not true, you said in interviews that you believed he was in Afghanistan, that he was not in Pakistan

PM: no I always put a doubt in that that I don't know. and I never had that information,. And so and so anyone who said he was in Pakistan also didn't have the intelligence.. It was not based on any intelligence. It was guesswork.

There were many almost. First they had to come into Pakistan without the knowledge of the Pakistan Govenment flying below radar. They started taking on fire right away, from the roof of the compound. The one helicopter that was hit was lucky enough not to land on the house which would have attracted the Pakistan Jets to scramble early. They team had to come down on a rope under fire. They had to rush through this house, looking for Osama and of course he was on the third floor. They got into a firefight and had to take out his son and him and a woman who got in the way of line of fire. They had a special team to gather all the computers and papers. On their way out of Pakistan the Jets were scrambled and the American pilots just made it out of Pakistan air space, with the body. This was handled beautifully and it was both luck and skill that the team was not hurt or found at the compound by the Pakistan government who knew nothing of the plan, however I believe they knew he was living there. In addition to bin Laden, one of his sons, Khalid, was killed in the raid, Brennan said. Bin Laden's wife was shot in the calf but survived, a U.S. official said. Also killed were Ahmed and his brother, both earlier identified as two of bin Laden's al-Qaida facilitators, and an unidentified woman.

Twenty-three children and nine women were in the compound at the time of the assault and were turned over to Pakistani authorities, said a U.S. official who requested anonymity to discuss an intelligence matter.
The SEAL team believes Bin Laden had lived at the compound for six years, the official said.

It has been a tradition throughout history to show the dead bodies of enemies on occasion. I believe the government is trying to be very cautious and not spark disgust or anger on the part of people who are not really aligned with him or his cause but could become inflamed at the site of a Muslim's body displayed by us. They are well aware of the problems we have with world-wide opinion, especially in the middle east and how that perception is used to recruit terrorists.

Nevertheless, I am sure they will release photos. I believe they will at least release the video of the sea burial and I'm positive some limited video of the attack, if available, will be released. This is an American triumph that many other countries have a stake in and seeing that body is important for many. I think they'll release it.

My response to them is that there is no way a government would ever claim such a thing if not true, because Osama would simply appear on a broadcast somewhere, making the U.S. look like the biggest bunch of fools. No U.S. President would take such a risk, IMO.

But, I believe the government has thought for some time how to handle such an eventuality and I believe they realize that many people need to see the body just to feel certain. I know that feeling but in a different way altogether.

As far as some of their comments, DNA testing is not a long process, it's just that it typically takes private labs a long time to get it done. We have the CIA to do testing for us and that was their only priority so it was done fast.

And, it had to be done fast. If not, the risk of a news leak would become too great. Also, some may have tried to target wherever Osama's body was being held and try to become martyrs recovering him. They also didn't want to look like people insensitive to a Muslim population around the world that tends to not view us favorably. There are many religious Muslims who may feel that even a monster must have a Muslim funeral.

Finally, the burial at sea also prevented a shrine from being created wherever this 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬 was buried.

But, I'm sure there are tons of photos of his body and I firmly believe there is a team sitting around discussing how much to release, in what manner, and to whom. They are probably pouring over photos deciding which ones they can use, or which parts. I'm sure the gruesomeness of a photo of a person shot in the head is giving them pause, so it may be hard to decide but I'm sure it's coming.

gitan, I heard the only body they took was OBL's.
I read they left the others at the compound.

I'm curious about the direct aftermath. Were their live adults left att he compound? If there were little kids, who dealt with them? I imagine the Pakistani government got there pretty quickly. Maybe they took care of all of it.

IMO, well done to spare all children and women but one. 9 women and 23 children-thinking more than one of his wives living there.

The media has control of the story now..

Everyone will gulp down what is presented

There will be no more thinking outside the box.

I too find it funny. Please...count how many times you use "I" in your post.

I know...apples and oranges... but it really is difficult to avoid using "I" in many situations.

I thought Obama was speaking sincerely and I never got the impression he was patting himself on the back. This was a successful mission with many participants, and Thank God it went as intended.

LOL no kidding Krk--touche my friend :D. As I said I just thought it was amusing. Wasn't laughing at him. As a matter of fact I felt very proud of him at that moment.

In fact I did think he was a bit happy with himself and he has every right to think so if indeed he is/was. He proved me wrong, I should have given him more credit when I cast my vote in the last elections for pres. :)

reminded me of this quote:

Be not afraid of greatness: some are born great, some achieve greatness and some have greatness thrust upon them (shakespeare)

the 'compound' doesn't look very big at all to me (earlier reports were calling it a mansion) but this ABC video states it was 8x larger than surrounding houses

http://abcnews.go.com/gma/video/osa...slamabad-13507768&tab=9482931&section=1206828

I wish we had better pics of it

It would look much larger if it was all on one level instead of three levels, imo.

I heard the living quarters was about 3,000 s.f.

And it was sitting on an acre lot.

Some of the awning structure on one of the front windows looks like it shook loose when they exploded the downed helicopter.

But in comparison to everyone else who lived around him I can see where they would consider this a mansion. They say it was a million dollar mansion.

To know he had been right there for 6 years is mind boggling.

But I have always heard the best place to hide is in plain sight.

The Pakistanis knew he was there, imo. They have known all along. It wouldn't surprise me if the Pakistani government didn't have that compound built for him.

IMO
