I am all for peace...however, their religion does not allow for peace with infidels. I understand the peaceful approach..it just does not work.

Okay, then, if that is what you believe, I ask you the same thing I asked Kimberly:

What is the solution then?

  • #1,002
I know you didn't, Kimberly. I mentioned that as the obvious (and utterly impractical) extreme, not because I think you advocate it.

So what is the answer instead? Simply ignoring the region (except when we needed oil) gave us 9/11. What do we do to try to prevent future attacks? Are airport searches our only option?

(You may not believe this, Kimberly, but I happen to know you are very smart and I am genuinely interested in what you think. That I argue with you vehemently at times is, I promise, a sure sign of respect. But this isn't an argument. I'm just curious what you think.)

We do what we need to do! If they don't like it TOUGH!
We don't need their oil. We have plenty of our own if the tree huggers would shut up and let us drill here.

Our troops are protecting us.

Did I answer them all? Need to start supper.

Well, give them a few hundred years-- that's how long it took my faith system. jmo

They have had more than a few hundred years. They are still living the way they always have.

teh is a tree hugger. I value this rock we live on. We better start taking better care of it. So, don't hold ur breath waiting for us to shut up.....it ain't happening. lmbo. Gotta love politics. pppffftttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttt.

Please go back and read my posts Nova.

If you have the same questions, I'll answer them again.

I'm sorry if this sounds like a line, but I actually have read your posts several times (if only because posts were flying so fast I was trying to find my place).

I believe I'm left with two questions:

1. Do you think the precedent of the photos taken in Mogadishu justifies the broadcasting of photos of a dead bin Laden?

2. What do we do with radical Islam and Islamofascists if there is no hope of converting radicals to moderation?

So, instead of upsetting an animal you would rather we continue to be at the mercy of terrorists?

  • #1,007
What animal? :waitasec:

No..........I would rather use something besides OILLLLLLLLLLLLL. Something that not only doesn't "disturb animals", but doesn't seem to get so many people KILLED.

Who told you we can sustain our economy without Middle Eastern, Nigerian and/or Indonesian oil? Whoever it was, he was wrong.

I don't doubt that our troops abroad weed out some potential terrorists, but not even the Pentagon claims they can catch them all.

1. NO
Again, it was brought up because a member said if we showed OBL's photo, we would start a precident. That we wouldn't want a dead American's picture plastered everywhere. I said, we would not be the ones who started that precident, it had been done to an American before.

2. Protect ourselves from their crazy selves and leave their oil alone. We have oil.

Good enough?
I need to get supper started. I'm cooking pork chops in honor of OBL's death. May even open a bottle of wine.
Becuase, I'm still celbebrating. Even if that makes me a horrible person. God knows my heart. Jesus loves me.

The sad fact is that the oil that can be gained by killing trees (and caribou and Gulf shrimp) isn't even enough to greatly reduce our dependence on foreign oil.

I have no idea where Kimberly got that idea, but it sounds like something Sarah Palin might say.

Well, that's not really an option right now. That's a few years down the road.
I say disturb the dang animals and drill here (until we can all have other forms of power for our cars). Let them choke on their oil. They would starve if we didn't buy it anyway.
Kill 2 birds with one stone.

Got it thanks.

1. That's what I thought you would think. I agree.

2. Thank you for the clarification. I'm afraid you are wrong about how much oil we have left here. Don't get me wrong: I WISH you were right, but the studies just don't show it.

Friend....I do not have the solution. I pray and try to live a peaceful, humble life.....but if anyone comes to harm me and mine...I have plans to tcb...I would love to know that my government was prepared to take out any and all threats foreign or domestic. Education for the young that have been brainwashed to hate Jews and the US would help...but..I never said I knew the answer. Not having the solution does not change the facts of the matter at hand.

  • #1,016
Yep, God knows the peeps sure would be starving if America didn't buy their oil. Don't they know we are doing them a favor by killing them and "buying" their oil. And I'm sure all the parents and loved ones who have troops over there are sure glad we are "buying" their oil to keep them from starving, while they shoot at their family.

I understand. Of course, I don't have the answer either and I don't expect you to produce magic where experts have been stalled for decades.

But I guess I think we have to keep trying. We can't just throw up our hands and say "there's no talking to those people." For what it's worth, I'm sure they are saying the same about us.

Of course as tehcloser well knows, the money we spend on oil goes to a very small, but obscenely wealthy upper class, while the majority of people in most Muslim countries live at the poverty line or below. Which is only one reason why most people in those countries aren't "grateful" for our business.

I should have mentioned that my post was just dripping with sarcasm..........and that same money is shared with obscenely wealthy oil folk here.

We have plenty of oil here.

http://exploredia.com/oil-reserves-by-country-2011/

The U.S. has 1.5% of proven oil reserves in the world. Fortunately, our good friends the Canadians have quite a bit more, but I guess we'll see if they are really good friends when China and India start offering more for Canadian oil than we can.

What's more it's a fallacy that oil drilled in the U.S. stays in the U.S. In fact, thanks to the global nature of oil companies, oil retrieved here merely goes onto the world market along with Saudi or Kuwaiti oil. Drilling in the U.S. may make oil companies rich, but it does nothing to reduce our cost at the pump.

http://www.einfopedia.com/oil-consumption-top-oil-consuming-countries.php

"We're No. 1! We're No. 1!" Of course we are by far the world's biggest consumer of oil, though China (#2), Russia (#4) and India (#5) are catching up.

Using the links above and rounding off roughly, we have 10 to 12 years left of oil in the U.S. at the rate we are consuming it. And that takes into consideration that only slightly more than half of our oil comes from domestic sources, the other half comes from abroad--and that this policy will continue. The truth is, however, that we have no way of insuring that oil from U.S. sands will make it to U.S. pumps. That depends on the world market and who has the money to pay.
