Article 18 of the Second Geneva Convention for the Amelioration of the Condition of Wounded, Sick and Shipwrecked Members of Armed Forces at Sea, which was adopted in 1949 and ratified by the U.S. Senate in 1955, states:

"After each engagement, Parties to the conflict shall, without delay, take all possible measures to search for and collect the shipwrecked, wounded and sick, to protect them against pillage and ill-treatment, to ensure their adequate care, and to search for the dead and prevent their being despoiled."

Iran launches missile attacks on Kurdish opposition groups in Iraq’s Kurdistan region​

Iran has carried out missile attacks targeting Kurdish armed opposition groups in the Kurdish region of northern Iraq, according to Iranian state TV.

The report said Iranian forces struck positions belonging to what Tehran described as anti-Iran separatist groups based in the semi-autonomous Kurdish region of northern Iraq.

The strikes come amid reports that the US is coordinating with Kurdish opposition factions based in Iraq, who have signalled they may enter the conflict against Iran.

US, Israel say Iran missile fire down, most launchers taken out as offensive ramps up​
